Bringing in 2026 by crying in the bathroom so nobody in my family hears me and flips out that I’m upset with them.

My heat is so useless in my new place. All windows closed, heats on. I’m wrapped in 3 blankets, a shall, and a robe. A wool blanket and comforter on me. Pajamas, socks, sweater. And I remain freezing.

My grandma’s having heart surgery today. Valve replacement (and an angioplasty last Monday). She’s one of my favorite people on the planet.

Things are so hard with this move and so financially tight. And tomorrow is my grandma’s heart surgery, my birthday (ick) on Thursday, and the anniversary of my Hannah’s (RIP, I miss you baby) gotcha day on Friday. I feel like crying so deeply.

An individual I work with has heard my name pronounced probably 2 dozen times (including from me), and has mispronounced my name about 2 dozen times. Today, for the first time, I corrected him (this coworker talks about my work as "social buzzwords" so I had no problem correcting him publicly).

Spent over an hour today looking for my cat because she had a vet appointment - Lucy has never hidden from me before. I’m desperately looking, and panicking, and all of a sudden she just strolls into the room I was in.

In Jordan. My grandma hasn’t stopped feeding me - we’ve fought over it twice. My uncle steps in “she could stand to eat less anyway” (in Arabic). Fuck you sir.

Working on a cookbook for my college this summer and the food photography and cooking has been so much fun.

Strawberry custard pie. For my mother. It’s amazing. Next time I’ll thicken the custard just a bit more. But as a whole this was amazing.

He puts up with the Chaos Kitten who showed up the day after Hannah died, he loves his weekly massages and his best friend is Mr. Quinn. He loves walks and had become a bit of a Velcro dog.
