might've been a mistake i don't remember making but at least i don't make them too often. now they are together...

the final handful of episodes shine a light on this, like going straight from that one into the television cult is such an indictment. it's interesting how much in conversation it is with what was posited in escaflowne (never mind the team's actual feelings) as like, a stark alternative to it
how both he and the audience miss the bigger picture by focusing on insular cool guy battles. it's why they put Communist Ted Kaczynski in there and portrayed him sympathetically (we know because of how they approached the tone/how and where they portray humanity in a scattered, dystopian universe)
but it's ALSO about the intolerable mirror, a theme that's run through bebop since the first episode. spike's short-sightedness (he's got that eye) and inability to see/evaluate what's right in front of him/the way he is complemented by his nakama, how he gets in his own way and theirs, AND,
the bebop episode with Andy is so fucking good because on its face it's just very funny and silly, plus they seriously must've infused it with cash because it's extra smooth with lots of dimensional expressions/movement and the (jpn) voice acting is fantastic. 10/10 episode purely by that metric
okay well i fucked up i missed the autograph session signups/it is otherwise prohibitively expensive... okay... that's fine... that's okay... i'm fine... not used to having opportunities... listen girl i just want to know about WHITE DOVE
oh no... what's happened...?
sorry for being like 4 years late to a film... it's not the only one unfortunately 🥹
oh i meant to complete this thought. well it was fun, #makesUThink i like limited casts in a fleshed-out world, i didn't feel any one character was representing a section of ireland but rather the entire thing was about ireland wrestling with itself from a number of angles and the war is yet another
v predictable but not disappointing... if it's a good film it's maybe his first, if it's a bad film it's maybe because of its incomplete but complex nuances. it's funny now to see ppl call it ahistorical when its name is Island Ireland and is an imaginary construct of Classic Stereotypical Imagery
finally saw banshees of inisherin last night for the st paddy occasion. tried hard not to hear anything about it (other than the aunties chatting in residency) and as soon as i saw the rainbow in the first 2 seconds, i knew exactly what sort of tone and focus we were working with lolll
big depro anxiety all the time now. ruining everything. like a train is idling in my chest giving me this crazy feeling of dread/permanent guilt about everything. affecting relationship with transness. art. world. doubting everything. hope it goes away

next question: why am i even talking about it
the themes still land without it I Guess, and it's definitely a complicated scene and i'd understand a certain type of criticism of it, but it's also like... it's pretty important (to the film at least) to show how shittily the travelers are treated and the parallels being drawn as oppressed peoples
watched INTO THE WEST (1992) and only afterward in trying to describe something to anka did i realise they cut an entire scene from the version we watched. why...? i even pulled up the script to make sure. who on earth cared that much about an independent irish film to do such a thing
omg! did you see attend/see her there?! i feel so goofy because she's obviously been important for a lifetime but i've never been motivated to go MEET many famous people... but i should!
oh not performing anything from escaflowne huh. that's ok queen. hey remember this (dumps all my personal belongings onto table)
yoko kanno will be in my state in april for a concert/panel/signings... i am being given a once in a lifetime opportunity to be so unbearably annoying
my man
cassette and label are both black with styled white text font: tir na nog gargoyle games (on either side of the top of the cassette label is an outward facing illustration of a demon gargoyle).

folken from escaflowne surprised
folken from escaflowne deeply affected, concerned, heartbroken, etc. in the actual animation the light flickers over his glassy eyes

mine told me the same thiiiing 😭 like you try to be both open and inviting for discussion and hearing how you might've done wrong while also being steadfast in that as a general practised value, and it turns out other people like to benefit from your kindness/willingness, but nothing "challenging"
obviously i've turned it over in my head more and less abstractly for a long time, but i also made it go dormant... usually stories are how i navigate that which can't be any other way but stories just aren't cutting it for me rn. which is too bad since i have to make some freakin monkey 🤑 already!
i know it's unhealthy but now that i've been given names and now that i wrote up a long chronology of injustices to the best of my ability, all i want to do is stare into the black hole of it. nothing else matters as much to me. it doesn't feel good for that to be true but i can't make it stop yet.
