My fella and I’s way to get away from all the ugliness is to watch Rifftrax/MSTK3, so that makes your work our emotional support animal. Thank you for the good you put out there.
Schwarzenegger winning seemed like the most embarrassing thing that would ever happen in politics at the time and now he’s to the left of every elected Republican and a few Democrats and just makes videos going “young men, my fadda was a Nazi and he was a contemptible loosah”
we also added 25% to the retirement age
This has been empirically demonstrated many times! You can’t expect men to have a place of domination and superiority over women in the home and treat women as equals outside of it.
I’m frustrated. I went online to Costco to see if they carry a few staples I buy in bulk so that a membership would be worth it. They do. I pay the $65,l. Then I find out that my local store doesn’t carry any of the things that I signed up to buy. Truly on me for following my heart to a hotdog. 🤡
There is an impulse in moments like this to appeal to self-interest. To say: These horrors you are allowing to happen, they will come to your doorstep one day; to repeat the famous phrase about who they came for first and who they'll come for next. But this appeal cannot, in matter of fact, work. If the people well served by a system that condones such butchery ever truly believed the same butchery could one day be inflicted on them, they'd tear the system down tomorrow. And anyway, by the time such a thing happens, the rest of us will already be dead. No, there is no terrible thing coming for you in some distant future, but know that a terrible thing is happening to you now. You are being asked to kill off a part of you that would otherwise scream in opposition to injustice. You are being asked to dismantle the machinery of a functioning conscience. Who cares if diplomatic expediency prefers you shrug away the sight of dismembered children? Who cares if great distance from the bloodstained middle allows obliviousness. Forget pity, forget even the dead if you must, but at least fight against the theft of your soul.
One of many moments in Omar El Akkad’s new book, “One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This,” that will stop you in your tracks.
(NYT) - Attorney General Pam Bondi signaled on Thursday that there was unlikely to be a criminal investigation into the sharing of military operation details in an unsecured text group, declaring that the specifics of when fighter jets would depart and when bombs would fall were “not classified.”
Columbia Journalism Review tested eight generative AI search tools and found their answers were wrong 60% of the time, and the paid ones actually fared worse than the free ones.
Meanwhile, millions of people trust the way they present total bullshit with confident language.

the purpose of banning section 230 is to ban all political, sexual, or critical speech from the internet
this is to silence grassroots movements that don’t have the explicit sanction of the wealthy and powerful
you are an abject moron or a liar if you believe it has any other purpose

“Okay buddy when you say ‘your body my choice’ I hear how the system has let you down, man. I cherish you. Let me validate what you think about black people. Shall we bond over comparing the best kind of roofies?”
Neighbor-love without self-love-showing kindness to others without letting them show kindness back to us—is paradoxically egotistical, because if we think we can love our neighbors without also receiving love or care, we're saying we're like God. God does not need us, but we need love, from God and our neighbors. We also need to be willing to receive that love-for our own benefit, but also to let our neighbors benefit from following the golden commandment. If we don't ever let other people love us, we're depriving them of a chance to fully live into their Christian call to love their neighbors.
This whole paragraph just called me out specifically. It’s like she was listening when my therapist called me a hypocrite for refusing to ask for help I needed because I didn’t want to be “a burden.” Even Jesus needed help carrying the cross. You are a burden worth carrying. #Lent2025GDMUTHU
vote for me, i’m the guy who silently mouthed “that’s false” an hour into my enemy’s speech
You know, Joseph McCarthy was able to get away with a whole lot of shit until he started fucking with the Army…
I think about that a lot.

Elon Musk is trying to make it impossible for the National Labor Relations Board to do its job of protecting workers and their right to organize. It's especially worth noting that Tesla workers in Buffalo tried to form a union and were met with relentless union-busting.
This is horseshit. If you fear protests will lead to martial law then you already live under martial law — and you’re the one who declared it.
Plus, it *won’t* lead to a declaration of martial law and the fear misconstrues the nature of the threats we face.
I know it’s a matter of time before I lose my job for helping to administer a federal labor law. But when I lose it, I want everyone to know I loved FMLA and it’s the minimum we owe to each other as employer/employee. It is frequently the arbiter between life and death for folks/families.
