Leather is a deforestation driver.
We’ve joined NGOs calling on the Commission not to exclude leather from the EU Deforestation Regulation.
Removing it would allow products linked to deforestation into the EU market.
Strong laws must be based on scientific evidence, not industry lobbying.
Corporations are writing EU law.
We need to:
✊ defend ethical standards
✊ stop corporate capture
✊ drop all rigged consultation methods that allow corporate lobbyists to dominate
✊ a broad based campaign to defend and expand the protection of the public interest

10 years ago today the UK Govt announced the Soft Drinks Industry Levy – a mandatory tax on sugar in soft drinks for manufacturers. 🥤
In a new blog, BHF Policy Officer Zoe Rostas reflects on the Levy's successes and what we can learn from it as the Govt looks to 'end the obesity epidemic.’ 🍎🎯
When people ask me what cinema can be, I merely show them this. And I say. This, THIS is cinema.

Similar to the consensus that there being ‘no safe lower limit’ to alcohol consumption, there is no ‘harmless’ level of driving. To reduce driving harm, driving itself needs to be reduced both by creating a built environment conducive to other modes and by reducing the incentives for driving. Harm is harm, and driving harm needs to be considered alongside the other big commercial killers of our age.

STINGRAY TAKES UP ATTACK POSITION! WASP'S BATTLE PLAN AT first light today, Stingray slipped quietly from Marineville Harbour and headed out to sea. Four miles off shore, the WASP patrol vessel made contact with the robot towing ship Yig before diving beneath the waves. According to Marineville tower, Stingray has taken up attack position in a carefully laid plan to smash Titan's new weapon, the mechanical flying bombs. What the plan involves is a closely guarded secret, but Commander Shore is aboard the new WASP vessel Sea Leopard and waiting to put to sea at the first sign of action in the area. Full report pages 4 and 5. Fireball in Crash landing THE fantastic theft of the Electrode 909, World Space Patrol's new fighter, lurched from the daring to the deadly today when Fireball XL5 was dragged on to the unexplored planet of Mellates today. According to space station M12, Colonel Zodiac had closed in on the Electrode and fired home magnetic clamps, but the three astronovices aboard the fighter had already lost control of the ship, which was plunging toward Mellates, caught in the planet's fierce gravitational pull. Before Fireball could release the clamps, the friction heat of re-entry had welded them to the Electrode's hull and the great patrol vessel was dragged on to the planet. Space City is waiting for Colonel Zodiac's report before deciding on the next course of action. So far there has been no news from Mellates. It is feared XL5’s radio is out of action (Full report page 16/17)
