Shader development is delayed tonight, due to StS2 patch notes:

My co-worker brought in leftover Easter cookies she had made.
One of them was a shortbread “Paint your own cookie”, so I did:
Hooray! I finally beat Ascention 10 with Defect! (ie. the highest difficulty available so far...)
I loved Defect in Slay the Spire, but Defect in Slay the Spire 2 is even more fun. I won with a 1-attack (Null) deck that obliterated everything in its path, lol...
Day 2 without home internet.
I must somehow survive until Saturday, but I am already approaching, “Hi Bob!” levels of media deprivation.
Wait, really? It *improves* performance?
Very interesting! I’ve been assuming it would be slower to pre-bake geometry.
I need to get a copy and run some tests! I’m always on the lookout for more potential speed gains!
I remember in the 90s when everybody's email inbox started rapidly becomming 100% spam.
It felt like the death of email was inevitable, until tech companies started building proper tools to attack the problem.
Hopefully history will repeat itself, soon!

Woo hoo! Got my boi Defect back online!
Defect was my favourtite StS1 character. I managed to get a 2-game Ascention 20 win streak with him.
Slay the Spire 2 might just be the perfect deck-builder card game. It's just so good.
(... and, um... I REALLY should have gone to bed already, lol...)
Vancoufur 2026 was great!
I got to hang out with friends, attend interesting panels, watch great dancers, retreat to my room when my social battery was empty and work on my shader (lol...), and so many other good memories!
And now that I'm home I get to play the just-released Slay the Spire 2!
I've been searching for anything new written about fur rendering in the past ~3 years.
So far, the results fit into 3 catergories:
- AI slop (😥)
- Pre-AI articles I somehow missed (😃)
- Links to my shader (🤣)
I bought a 2020 MacBook so that I could work on the shader during convention downtime.
The hardware is nice, but I think I could do without the, "you're an idiot, get used to doing it Apple's way you stupid Windows user..." search results when researching if it's possible to re-configure something.
heh… I didn’t expect the, “How-to make furry art with 1989 Deluxe Paint” panel at Vancoufur to be packed, lol…
I really like orels' Shader Generator.
It seems like the right foundation to start building Fast Fur v6.0 on...
Hooray!
My preference would have been to go to permanent Standard Time, but I’m okay with this compromise if that’s what it took to make it finally happen.

I have a booth at PJKT:FANG, which is going on for one more day!
If you're at the event, make sure to come by my booth and drop a selfie below ^^

I remember everyone in my school bailing on first season TNG after yet another holodeck and/or Wesley Crusher (ie. Gene Roddenberry self-insert) saves the day episode.
Then one day my friend tells me, “actually, it’s really good now,” and lo and behold he was right.
I apologize for coming across as a “hater”.
My post was intended as a lighthearted jab regarding my Star Trek loving friend having an existential crisis with each new episode.
It certainly has me curious as well.
There seems to be a particularly huge rift between those who love it (ex. Rotten Tomatoes critics) and those who hate it (ex. IMDB audience score), I’m interested in watching at least a few episodes to find out why.
I'm not sure I follow this logic, but I suspect it's because I have a case of the "olds".
As a teen, we had Star Trek: The Next Generation, and we hated that Wesley Crusher was a transparent attempt to pander to us.
Do teens today really need "morning wood" and "I swallowed my comm badge" jokes?
If somebody you love is a Star Trek fan, I encourage you to do a wellness check every thursday evening.
I've only seen clips, but from what I have seen/heard, Starfleet Academy is so bad that it's doing to Star Trek fans what Season 8 of Game of Thrones did to its fan base.
Yeah, mine is going back as well. It seems like a decent headset, but the image quality is just not as good as I’d been led to believe.
I managed to find the "sweet spot", where the lenses were lined up perfectly with my eyes, and then the image was much better. However it was still not close to the clarrity of my Quest Pro.
I suspect the smaller lenses of the Bigscreen Beyond are just less forgiving of my wonky eyes.
Ha... great video! Sorry you've attracted trolls!

This review for the documentary was so ridiculous that I had to turn it into a video. Enjoy
Thanks for the info! I'll play around with the IPD and see if I can get it dialed in better.
When you get it dialed in, does it look sharp for you everywhere, or just in the centre?
I'm only getting the middle ~20% sharp, the rest has heavy chromatic abberation. My Quest Pro is basically the opposite, with the middle ~80% sharp, and only minor chromatic abberation around the edges.
Hooray! My Bigscreen Beyond arrived!
but… um… the visuals look like crap?
I think I need to get my eyes checked. Everything I’ve read says it should look better than my Quest Pro.
Maybe they got my prescription wrong?
I'm having a classic night of fixing one bug and creating two more, lol... (my nose isn't supposed to be speckly)
Humbug!
