A Korg Volca Keys synthesizer, help on a table like it's the most precious item ever forged on this god forsaken earth. I would take a tactical nuke to the chest for this little buddy. It doesn't let you select waveforms, it doesn't have a really in depth filter or envelope, its delay is just okay, but it's so good at all the things it can do that I can't help but love it. I didn't know what "warm" sounded like until I played this. I can never go back. I'm gonna be so fucking annoying from now on, and there's absolutely nothing anybody can do about it. I'm gonna use this in everything. I'm gonna get into synths. I'm gonna have a walk if synths and it's all thanks to this plastic brick with flashing red lights. It doesn't take a standard 9v power supply. Half of its weight comes from the 6 AA batteries required for it to function. But I love it. I want to play it every waking moment. I would sacrifice city officials to the Korg gods to let this muddy oscillator be the only thing I ever hear again for the rest of my life. That would be contentment. That would be peace. We don't deserve the Korg Volca Keys.

I also wanna do everything I can to get the wiring and electronics properly grounded and shielded because my apartment has shitty wiring and my gear is old so it buzzes a lot as is, I wanna prevent as much of it as I can in the guitar so I don't need heavy gates

The big thing is getting the tone knob working, because I tend to use it a lot when tracking solos, but for now it'll work. I fixed the pickup selector which was the big thing, and the working killswitch is a huge bonus

Eventually I'm just gonna stick Seymour Duncan Custom/'59 sets in everything because that's what I have in my superstrat and it kicks ass, but for now this'll have to do. I like the sound and responsiveness. I have 10-52s on it now and might jump to 11s next but we'll see

I swapped the stock bridge pickup for a stock epiphone special II pickup because the stock agile pup had a resistance of like 8.75 and the bridge pickup in my strat is almost 15. Epiphone stock was almost 16 so fuck it let's get loud

I know ohms aren't everything but I gotta use what I got. 16 or 9

I also need to redo the grounding because I'm all over the place with it

Gonna get new pots and new caps, but at this point it works fine enough

Also I had a dumb idea for a switch that swaps tone caps and I heard no difference, then I tried changing it to a tone delete which also had no effect.

I think either the pot is busted or my cap is fried

The killswitch works fine, the two pickups work fine, the volume knob works fine but I'm probably adding a tone bleed

The tone knob and cap switch had next to no effect, I changed to a different wiring and it had even less effect, Internet says maybe try an audio pot but idk.

Phase 2:
- replace the pickups
- add series/parallel switch to each pickup
- add a piezo pickup and a separate output for it

So right now the plan is this:

Phase 1:
- rip off the pickup covers
- replace the four pots with main volume and tone controls
- add a killswitch
- add a tone cap selector switch
- add a treble bleed

seriously they had .047's in there

just checked the caps and they put fuckin strat caps in there. im wondering why the guitar sounds so friggin dark and muddy and it's got super low tolerance pots in the wrong spot and the darkest/muddiest commonly used caps out there.
