Trying something different but it’s taking so much longer than I wished… being able to paint only a couple of hours a day is such a patience challenge! (I prefer working wet on wet and I am not a fast painter…) #oilpainting #painting #wip #artstudio #dailypainting #art #time #artprocess

I guess that’s it! Let me know if you have any questions or material suggestions! Cheers

Most brushes I see in stores are synthetic. My favourite brushes are flats but I have been enjoying filbert quite a lot for blocking and smoothing areas.
Cleaning
The Escoda olive soap is holding well and it’s super handy for the main cleaning of brushes.

Brushes
I got brushes from Princeton and Rosemary & Co. I am happy enough with both brands but Rosemary ones have a special sturdiness, real high quality stuff with normal market prices. They have 2 or 3 vegan series which is much appreciated! But overall is very easy to get vegan brushes.

Palette knife
It’s essential to me cos I premix my palette! I have tried to use it directly on the surface for mark making a couple of times, it worked for skies during plein air since it gives me speed in the process of spreading paint. But mainly I prefer brush marks so I’m not exploring this much

Recently I’m finding I prefer the texture with the addition of some linseed oil, so I might be a traditional gal on this :) The gel is quite handy for plein air though, since there is no risk of spilling.

Michael Harding Miracle Medium is my favourite cos it almost hasnt any smell. I also use Zest-it Citrus Free Solvent which is more affordable but I find the smell too strong so I mostly use it for plein air.
For medium I use Gamblin gel medium but often I forget about it & paint purely with paints.

I’m also more and more a colour nerd fascinated with pigments overall so from time to time I treat myself with an extra colour that I’m curious about. Ex. Gamblin Radiant Yellow, Cobalt Teal and Viridian.
Medium & Non-Solvent
I’m happy to say I manage very easily to paint WITHOUT TOXIC SOLVENTS!

Paints
I still mainly work with a limited palette. It’s the best way to get stronger at colour mixing and more acquainted with the pigments I have. Since I’ve started painting more landscapes though I added some colours that speed up colour mixing, like Burnt Sienna and Naples Yellow.
