Why is violence pathologized for trans people but individualized for cis men? Violence is interpreted through a double standard when it comes to trans people and cis men, allowing masculinity as a structural driver to remain unexamined.

When a trans person commits a rare act of violence, their gender identity often becomes the story. But when cis men, who commit the overwhelming majority of violence globally, are responsible, masculinity itself rarely enters the analysis. My latest piece examines this double standard.
