Can you tell it's been awhile since I've checked this account? Yikes, so sorry! I am no good with social media.

We are later than plannwd with A Singularity in Scarlet, but I'm working on the last edit before proofreading. So look for news soon! And thanks so much for reading and reviewing!

The great thing about catastrophizing is you only have to be right once. ๐Ÿค”

Just for a bit more genre context:

Unwilling Souls - Epic fantasy with YA elements

Mutagen Deception (The Last Humans) - Twisty sci-fi horror

Murder on the Interstellar Express - Humorous sci-fi closed-room murder mystery

I don't intend to do a ton of direct self-promotion on this account--I'd rather use it to randomly muse about stuff that interests me--but given that we are entering the holiday shopping season, I'll do a brief intro to my three series in a thread if you'll indulge me.

Well, in that case, this isn't an RPG, but have you ever played Outer Wilds? Outer space exploration game, and it's not like anything else out there. That and HZD are my two favorites

If you want a really rich narrative, you should check out the Horizon series if you haven't. Horizon Zero Dawn's story can still move me to tears.

Yeah, definitely. It's never fun to have something you expect you'll love fall short on expectations. And ten years is a long time to get excited.

But I'm still fairly early in, too. Only just got all the companions recruited.

I'll be curious if my enjoyment of the game is more rooted in nostalgia for Thedas and a sense of FINALLY. But I'll need to finish it and get some distance before I can tell.

ATM, my biggest complaint is that the game feels a little underpopulated. Lighthouse is too empty, etc. I miss Skyhold.

I mean, I'm enjoying the latest game a lot. Each iteration of Dragon Age is never what I expect, so I've just sort of trained myself not to go in with any expectations. Especially since it felt like we were never going to get ANYTHING for quite a while.

To be clear, I'm a big fan of all the Dragon Age games (DA2, despite its rushed production, is my favorite). But the way each game so earnestly attempts to violently course-correct is weirdly charming to me.

I love the way each new Dragon Age game overcompensates for the weakness of the prior entry. DA2 overcorrected on Origins' weak combat. DA:I WAY overcompensated for DA2's lack of environmental variation. And DA:VG has pivoted hard toward a linear opening section to compensate DA:I's starting area.

Not from this year by any stretch but Blindsight by Peter Watts is one of the scariest books I've ever read, even though it's sci-fi at first glance.

TFW you are so bad at Hades 2 you run out of original dialogue at the Crossroads and you still haven't finished either game path ๐Ÿ˜…

A green crew patch from the book Murder on the Interstellar Express. The patch has orange trim and depicts the name of the colony ship "Ultima Thule" (and yes, the name is intentionally supposed to be a little cringe-inducing in reference to who built it), as well as a rocket ship (centered) with a nightcap to indicate sleepiness in between text saying "Conscious Crew Complement" and "Awake and about it." At the bottom of the patch are the letters C.C.C. forming the anagram for Conscious Crew Complement.

Also, a version of the picture with alt text, because I should have done that before!

Sleepy from edits and social media signups, so I'll just post this for now. These are the sweet crew patches my publisher Cursed Dragon Ship had made for my latest, MURDER ON THE INTERSTELLAR EXPRESS. To be part of the colony ship's Conscious Crew Complement is, shall we say, a dubious honor.
