A pint of Guinness sitting on a marbled bartop, with a row of glasses and liquor bottles in the background.
“Pints of Guinness Make You Strong”
White bell shaped flowers, likely morning glories, in a green-leafed bush.
really good essay on how the figure of the alligator has always loomed large in the imagination of American racists, from @asherelbein.bsky.social
After 20+ years of living on various hard drives and cloud servers, I finally deleted the goofy (and honestly, kinda problematic) music I made as a goof in college and post-college. Partially because of those problematic elements, and partially because I was tired of it coming up on shuffle.
This is exactly how librarians have been blamed for cuts to library budgets for decades. "You didn't do enough to communicate your value." What that really means is "you don't make any profit, and profit is the only legitimate value an organization can produce."
Two images of Captain Barbossa from Pirates of the Caribbean. The top one has him in human form, with the words "You best start believin' in dictatorships, America..." overlaid. The bottom has Captain Barbossa as a skeleton, with the words "You're in one" overlaid.
As someone who generally hates political meme images on social media...I still feel obligated to share this today. Feel free to call me a hypocrite.
Have fun! And don’t listen to the “Seattle is dying” boomers. 😀
Is this before, during, or after the Crew's visit to Lumen field July 6?
They each like them in their own unique and special way.
Thanks, I hate it. 😆
Is it folly to start decorating an apartment when you’re 95% sure you’re moving in six months?
And here I thought that I couldn't get angrier at my alma mater...
I don’t think anyone would say these are classic issues by any definition (and that Amazing Spider-Man is probably notorious for being part of one of the worst storylines ever), but it was still worth it for me to indulge in the nostalgia (and see some of the old ads!) almost 30-something years on.
The cover of Sensational Spider-Man 13, which features Spider-Man, Ka-Zar, and Shanna the She-Devil running away from dinosaurs in a Jurassic setting.
The cover of Robin #14, which is a close-up shot of Robin wielding a staff, his back half-turned as he confronts KGBeast, a large man in red and blue clothing with a cybernetic eyepatch.
The cover of Amazing Spider-Man 418, which features Spider-Man and a large figure clad in metal fighting as the remnants of a building collapsing surround them.
I’ve been a comics fan for a long time, but for a long time, “comics” meant graphic novels and trade paperback collections of comic book issues. I’ve recently gotten back into collecting them again, and one of the first things I did was buy the first comics I could remember reading as a kid. (con)
is no mean feat. The comics and Star Trek worlds will miss him. (end)
(con) came across a character outside the stereotypical gender binary (Burgoyne 172, who had both male and female characteristics and was referred to with s/he and hir pronouns). I can’t vouch for how well it was done, but that it was done at all in the 90s, and it reached me in a smalltown Ohio (c)
As an aside, I had totally forgotten that Peter David had written a series of Star Trek novels set outside of the usual tv series/movie characters. I don’t remember how many of them I read (not all of them, certainly), but this just reminded me that these books were probably the first time I (con)
Writer Peter David, wearing an Amazing Spider-Man t-shirt, prepares to greet fans at a signing at Midtown Comics in New York City
Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of comic book and sci-fi writer Peter David, who passed away last night following a long illness. Incredible Hulk, X-Factor, Star Trek...so many fond memories of him and his work.
A bunch of tiny purple and white flower bloom in a field of grass and other miscellaneous weeds.

After 8 years, I finally hit 1000 karma on my Reddit account. Should I feel accomplished? Embarrassed? Indifferent? 🤷♂️
Me, when I put my joke music project on my resume on LinkedIn?
Cheers!
Digital spring cleaning got me in my feels…so many albums I loaded into iTunes years ages ago and then promptly never listened to all the way through.
I am mostly just perplexed that a decent chunk of my discovery feed here is now bunny photos.
Also: if you like guitar music, and don’t mind the occasional squalls of feedback, you also owe it yourself to see Mogwai live. When the opener said they were gonna rip our heads off, he was 100% not joking.
The Diamond Comics bankruptcy, and all the stories that have since followed, are seriously some of the wildest stuff I’ve ever seen. #comics
