I would be happy if the boundaries of society were pushed more by the likes of Tim Vine, just make everything so much more gleefully silly.

Again my favourite thing about being part of the comedy community is the gossiping about how wonderful an act is behind their back and recommending people for others to check out for no reason other than that it's nice seeing lovely, wonderful, funny people shine.
I've managed to get out of that and part of it is realising just the sheer number of brilliant acts there are around at all levels, the vast majority are lovely people and if someone I like does turn out to be a dickhead, there's no shortage of people to treasure in their place.
A few years ago I got... I mean I guess it'd probably be defined as an obsessive compulsion of needing to try check and verify which comedians were on the anti trans path as well as Linehan, because I was so scared of losing this artform I love to hatred. It was unhealthy and making me miserable.
Apropos of nothing, if the creator of something you cherished turns out to be a horrible person, the answer isn't to close your hearts for fear of disappointment, it's to love more. Love with abandon, because there's always new art to find, love so much as to always outweigh the disappointments. ❤️
God bless the NHS.
I was once catching up with a few people whose careers I respect to get some thoughts about what to do next and one of them said
"You know, your next thing doesn't have to be bigger than your last thing."
And it remains one of the most creatively freeing things I've ever heard.
Marjolein is extremely funny, but she's also just one of the best storytellers full stop. Someone comission an entire series of her just recounting Shetland folklore.
Think it's always good to let people know how they're thought of when they're not around ☺️
@robinince.bsky.social my wife is currently taking part in an Autism + Menstruation study, and in the last interview the researcher started talking about this wonderful guy called Robin Ince who'd written a fantastic book on neurodivergence and how she was so excited to see him in Swansea next month
Yes! I loved the atmosphere, the humour and the unsettling weirdness. It felt very much its own thing. Once I could stop using a gun and just start throwing chunks of the environment around I had such a good time.
That's good to know. Maybe I'll just wait for Resonant and fill in the gaps. Glad you went back to Control in the end though!
I should go to more bad shows really just to add some variance to my post comedy thoughts, but that's probably covered by doing open mics.
Related but Jess Fostekew is great.
AW 1 I did bounce off when I tried it about ten years ago, it's only as they're now tied into the same universe and there's overlap in the stories I feel I want to understand it better... But I also think that may just be more AW 2 that's tied in so could probably just skip to that one.
I just really love Control. Excited to spend more time in that world.
I would really like to play through Alan Wake 2 in preparation for Control Resonant, but that would also mean playing through Alan Wake 1 which does not have a story mode difficulty.
There is, however, a novelisation. So I may end up reading that then tackling 2.

Obviously City Varieties is a beautiful venue, known to be one of the best places in the country to watch and perform comedy.
But also when I go I can get a blackcurrant squash and a bag of chocolate raisins like I'm four years old and that's lovely.
I've had a few occasions where I follow a comic whose work I enjoy and immediately get a follow back saying "omg you worked on [X game]? I'm such a huge fan!
And that's not how I was expecting that interaction to go.
It makes me extremely happy how much love and affection there are for some of the games I've worked on, especially the less well known ones. Every time I see someone praise Yoku's Island Express or Monster Sanctuary or Killer Frequency it fills my heart.
People say “rules are meant to be broken”. No they’re not. If they were meant to be broken there’d either be no rules or the rules would be to break the rules. Honestly, I’m sick of it x
left 4 dead and its sequel are full of some of the best small details and bits of environmental storytelling you can find in games. valve's jay pinkerton told me it's because the team opened up the writing process to the whole studio. as others have said about L4D's graffiti: AI could never
I loved your windowed mask at AdvX! Didn't feel imposing at all ☺️
Been invited to play my favourite comedy club for the third time. Going to have to actually write some more jokes. But also, lovely to feel appreciated 🥰
@kathyrivett.bsky.social please update your MachFest poster
Has anyone actually used their ACMS Award on a poster yet?
I don't think I've met "you". Which feels ridiculous. It can't have been ten years since we last met up?
