I feel every word of this. At the moment I volunteer with an animal rescue. I foster dogs, as well as take care of the cats & dogs in our facility. Helping them find their forever homes feels like I'm doing some small bit to resist everything else.

It's a little risky, but can you place some 2x4s across the railings on either side to use a a simple scaffolding? Though since you have to manually roll up the blinds, that might be too much cumulative risk to do daily.
