like im a lifelong democrat and im still angry i was forced to vote for someone who ran on being staunchly anti-immigrant, pro-genocide, and agnostic about my own rights *at best*, just bc that was the only way to stop trump. what dems did in 2024 was a profound betrayal of their base

the defection rate in both cases was like ~10% iirc, with it being slightly higher in 2008. but yes most leftists i knew were really energized and excited by bernies campaign and after a period of disappointment following his loss carried that energy to hillarys general election campaign
