France says goodbye Windows, hello Linux!
Positive News: France has announced its plan to ditch Windows & switch to Linux for government desktops. 🥳 🇫🇷
Not only that, but they have also moved 80, 000 National Health Insurance Fund Employees to open source alternatives replacing U.S owned Big Tech platforms like Microsoft Teams & Zoom.
Some students enter higher education having been introduced to peer-reviewed scholarly articles...in high school?!...but are unfamiliar with concepts like "compare /contrast" or "support claims with evidence." So I guess the high school prepared them for college by jumping right over everything else
Related to this K-12 and higher ed relationship is an opaque distinction between the two types of institutions, which are related but should have very clearly differentiated purposes and goals. The purpose of secondary education should be far more expansive than "college readiness."
There is a type you'll meet at parties who loves to profess the superiority of the private sector and incompetence of all government work.
But have you ever noticed that as soon as someone is proven incompetent in government they are sent to exile/demoted to the private sector?
Pumped for #Phillies today!
Are they working their way backward toward the 2015 JCPOA?

A bug in the code of human social biology is that we instinctually defer power to the confident, but confidence doesn't require knowledge, wisdom, or efficacy to operate. It just requires charisma or self-promotion.
We frequently defer power to people who know very little and are often ineffective
🆕 Excited to share our new Comment in Nature Climate Change.
A multidisciplinary effort analysing Spain’s pioneering experience with climate shelters, linking climate science, public health, urban planning, and governance. A constructive perspective on what works and what is still needed.
You are playing Monopoly with ten friends, and one friend owns almost all the property. The other nine are tiring of the game waiting to go bankrupt. Does the game improve if you force player 10 to give each player an extra $200 when they pass Go? Not much...b/c he still owns all the property.
A persistent myth among young adults (and parents) preparing to study at colleges and universities is that choosing a major at age 18 is choosing a career for life. This may be true for pre-professional degrees (like nursing or accounting), but many graduates end up in careers they never anticipated
Fair. I agree with most of the IRA in principle. Two critiques: 1) Dems did a poor job selling it and its benefits to the public; and 2) relies too much on big grant actions rather than direct spending on critical projects.
They don't seek innovative ideas at all. When they get in power, they hire consulting groups and think tanks staffed by the same old names that sell them outdated and overpriced fixes that ultimately fail.
Republicans pretend the problems we face do not exist because they have no solutions. Democrats identify the problems and campaign on them, but once elected, have mostly bad/sloppy fixes that backfire and return Republicans to power.
How do we elect Democrats with SMART solutions to problems?
We're going to have a lot of work to do once we get adults back in the room in 2028.
Classic!

In three years there will be a new POTUS and we can begin to repair much of the damage wrought, but America's reputation will be permanently tarnished for generations to come.
I am pleased to announce that I have commandeered my neighbor's home. This home will be sold at its Market Price, and that money will be controlled by me, to ensure it is used to benefit my neighbor and me! Thank you for your attention to this matter!
IMO, a hallmark of the 2020s has been the cultural normalization of avarice.

Cheers to #Australia for having courage, common sense, and protecting their youth. The evidence of SMU harm on young people is substantial. Doing nothing is unacceptable. www.reuters.com/legal/litiga...
“This legislation pretends that crypto assets are stable and mainstream, and they are not. Rather than just being silent on crypto, this bill strips the few safeguards that exist for crypto and erodes many protections for traditional securities"
