How I program when nobody is looking.

I've tried to be organized over the years, and built reusable singletons called Calc for common functions, Utilities for common functions, and Global for common functions.

When I need to make a new reusable math or geometry or game-system type method, I pick one of those at random to put it in.

Just now realized I have a bunch of large and dense ergonomic cushions.

I've very cleverly heaped them up next to me, to simulate a large comforting human to wiggle back up against while I sleep.

I am a genius.

Been sleeping alone for most of the last few months, and am really missing the weight and solidity of someone else.

I don't know who invented this part of Western cultural mores, but we're social mammals! We're not meant to sleep alone!

Was skimming the changelogs for these earlier, and appreciating the nuance.

Screenshot from "The Old World" zone in SteamWorld Dig. Deep underground, a store called Game Go is covered in Halflife iconography like a crowbar and Gordon Freeman, and the number 3, with a promotional banner that says Now! (soon).

A series of skeletonized modern human beings are sitting in what looks like a line out front.

A drawing of the artist walking around with a silly smile, while a carabiner holding keys, connected to her pants, is making loud CLINK CLANK CLONK sound.

Above her is a thought bubble with a robot bearing the caption "Lesbotron 3000", also making loud CLINK CLANK CLONK sounds.

PANEL 1: MATTIE is talking to A GUY. They're both up to their waists in water.
MATTIE: Concerning amount of water, don't you think?
GUY: Eh!

PANEL 2: The water is now up to their shoulders.
GUY: I have great news about the future.
MATTIE: Oh? This doesn't seem great.

PANEL 3: The water is now up to their heads, they both tilt their heads back to speak. The GUY is now holding up his phone.
GUY: The KIDS will fix it! They'll fix all of it. I saw it, on my phone.
MATTIE: Ohhh I see it now. Phew!

PANEL 4: The water fills the frame. The GUY's phone and glasses float atop it.

Sometimes I wonder if you can ever really get these kinds of insights, without going through the hardship itself.

Not for lack of trying, but I've never been able to fully internalize this sort of thing from others, or communicated my own to anyone who hasn't come out the other side of similar.

Lot of people discussing this with the idea of failing faster. I would put it to you that failure doesn’t actually have to exist at all in this conception. One of the great mistakes of the AI brouhaha is the belief that art is good because of its craft or content. It is good because it connects us.

We could also just, you know, take down all world borders so that war can stop. They're younger than you think historically anyway and were never a good idea, unless it's like, just to keep america out. :P

Capital doesn't have a human face, it is a cybernetic organism built out of market algos, it abstracts all human needs into a governance of extinction. We don't need for it to give us a living wage while the world dies, we need this organism dismantled so we can have a chance at any sort of future
