Ah, so “Avogadro Corp.” has finally become a reality! 😳

Mathematically speaking, in any connected graph, the average degree of neighbors tends to be greater than the average degree of nodes.

So, the only mistake you made is *not* to ask the rest of the people in the social network.

Isn't math wonderful? 🤔😀

Do you feel especially lonely or have FOMO when you see how many friends your friends have on social media?

It's true! On average, you are less popular than your friends are! 😳

But it's not your fault because... 👇

linkding A self-hosted bookmarking service that is designed to be minimal, fast and easy to set up.

One day later, my server disk was full. I had 10,000 links in Linkwarden, and it stored the full HTML, PDF, and image versions of each link.

So, be prepared to deploy a big disk.

I wasn't, so I decided to go with linkding.link

Convert CSV to Bookmarks HTML

Yep, I can confirm that it works! Installed it with Docker under Linux, imported all my bookmarks from Pocket, connected it to OpenAI for auto-tagging, and I'm off to the races.

Tip: Pocket exports only CSV. I had to convert it using this little thing: csv-to-bookmarks.glitch.me

Today I heard that Pocket, the bookmark manager, will be shut down. 🥲

Does anyone know an open source, self-hostable alternative? I want to run it inside a Docker container on my NAS.

It should work similar to Instapaper, with a nice browser extension for Firefox.

What does the code name K-12 stand for in the context of education in the United States? Why is it named that way?

Wow, I split my big web app into 15 little backend servers and one reverse proxy. I felt it was difficult to observe 15 servers at once.

Everything became a lot when I began to use kitty sw.kovidgoyal.net/kitty/

Screenshot of the kitty with three of the 15 servers:

OMG, I have been refactoring a monolith into 35 separate TypeScript projects! Took me 2 weeks until every package had the right name and the package graph was free of cycles.

Now I need to break the UI into several components as well. Afterwards, I can start to deploy again.

Phew!

For a second language English speaker: what does it mean to be “clean on” something?

Today, I tried to have an AI convert my Eslint configuration from V8 to V9 format.

It failed spectacularly although I gave it the migration guide to read.

I am not convinced about coding aids, yet.

Me, while I’m breaking up a monolith today:

“Let’s pull this stuff out as a separate package.”

“Oh, it needs that other stuff, well… let’s pull out the other stuff, first.”

(repeats the previous sentence ten times…)

A screenshot of a summary, written by the "Eliza" AI. It says:

What I do on a Saturday morning: 😂

One AI (Eliza) is watching me and summarizes what I said to another AI (Dividend Dan, my future expert for good dividend stocks) – all inside my social network for stock investors. I must say, she's right:

Exactly this. I am still doing everything on my MacBook Air M1, and it just works fine! Similar experience: the previous 7 years with my Intel-based iMac.
