Thank you Detroit.
Posts by Mayor Mike Duggan
As we close out the year, Detroit is proving what’s possible when we invest in our people.
The Detroit Startup Fund has already supported multiple startups, awarded grants, and helped make Detroit a city where new businesses can grow and thrive.
Built on care, leadership, and commitment, Block Clubs reflect the dedication you bring to our neighborhoods every day. The City of Detroit proudly celebrates our Block Clubs for their service and impact over the past 12 years, honoring the heart of our neighborhoods.
Block Clubs have been a key part of Detroit’s neighborhood development, growing from 200 to more than 600 over the past 12 years. Residents taking action to support their communities has been integral to Detroit’s transformation.
When I first became Mayor 12 years ago, listening to Detroit residents was a top priority as our city began to change. Thanks to residents like Marilyn Winfrey who invited me into their homes, we were able to have meaningful conversations about the future of our neighborhoods.
Thank you for trusting me, challenging me, and walking alongside me on this journey. The work continues, but the future is bright because Detroit’s strength has always been its people.
Forever grateful. Forever Detroit.
Today, Detroit is a destination once again, and that belongs to the residents who never gave up on this city.
Because of you, Detroit didn’t just come back, it’s moved forward. We stabilized neighborhoods, rebuilt our city services, invested in people, and reintroduced Detroit to the world as a place of opportunity, pride, and promise.
Detroit serving as your mayor has been the honor of my lifetime. For 12 years, we rolled up our sleeves together, neighbors, block clubs, businesses, faith leaders, and families and proved what’s possible when Detroit believes in itself.
