My final one from 1977. Going into #5debutalbums7579 this was my only certainty. Listening to it side by side with other 1977 debuts though actually makes it sound even more remarkable.

Not sure either will get in mine. Both sure to qualify anyway without our votes.
For me NMTB is the definitive punk album, which in terms of a debut album poll for me does carry a bit of extra weight.
I love it but it will fall short of my top 5. The fact that I think their next two albums are even better works against it.
Superb of course but for me NMTB edges it as the best punk debut. This probably does work better as an album but NMTB for me has higher highs and has far more cultural significance.

With so many groundbreaking albums this grizzled veteran (although incredibly only 32 at the time) shouldn't be in contention. Something undefinably special about it though so it definitely is.

Definitely the most culturally significant album in the running but for some reason I needed to be reminded just how great it is musically too.

Truly fantastic, in any other heat it would be a certainty.
3 years younger than Elvis, who was dead within 6 months of this album's release date.

My final one from 1976 (apologies to Ramones and Modern Lovers). One of my favourite albums of the genre, not sure it will ever match Neu! 75 in my appreciation but the gap between them has definitely narrowed over the years.

Still on 1976 with a band left stranded between art rock and punk. Their debut though is truly brilliant. Too bonkers to get wide acclaim but an upgrade to lost classic status is overdue and more than deserved.

I've not heard that particular album before but for some reason Rosewood was one of the albums I heard early in my jazz journey, which obviously led onto Blackstone Legacy.
Genuinely well worth investigating. Like you say, lots of great jazz albums off the beaten track.
REM
Dexy's
LL Cool J
U2
Never actually heard the LL Cool J album but I'm confident of it's placing.
Nowhere near being one of my 5 favourites of the eligible albums. In the context of a debut album poll though it has to be a serious contender.

Another fantastic jazz debut from 1976. By self taught Japanese pianist Ryo Fukui it is very much a traditional piano trio but somehow has a freshness and charm all of its own.

Definitely one of my favourite albums but can I really vote for such a grizzled veteran (although incredibly only 32 at the time) when so many groundbreaking artists were bursting onto the scene.

Moving to 1976 with one of my favourite jazz albums of the decade. With some incendiary playing and a unique 70s update to the classic jazz sound it's a genuine contender for my top 5. Worth 31 mins of anyone's time.

It will definitely qualify I think but the punk and new wave albums will dominate.
When Richard first announced the debut album poll this was the first album I thought of. The backstory and brilliance of it make it a definitive debut album for me.

The last of my 1975 albums (later years will take longer). Won't make my top 5 but another superb album. For all his classic rock credentials there is definitely a power pop vibe with this.

Another from 1975 and one of prime prog's greater later albums. Won't make my top 5 but hugely enjoyable. The bass playing is of course great and it's incredibly restrained too by the standards of the genre.

Two great albums from Gary Numan alone, it's going to be a busy couple of weeks.
Superb, one of 3 great jazz albums from 1976 on my audition list.

Hard to know where to start so I'll begin with 1975. An album being so inventive and ahead of its time has got to carry extra weight in a debut album poll, which makes this a serious contender for my top 5. A truly remarkable album.

Truly fantastic, can't see it not making my top 5.
So many iconic albums in the running. This will be the toughest of the lot for me.
Thanks again for all your efforts on this. Looking forward to the next one, which I think for me will present a very different challenge.
Late to the party this week but here's my #5debutalbums1519:
1. Fyah - Theon Cross
2. Fly Or Die - Jaimie Branch
3. Future Me Hates Me - The Beths
4. Anxiety Art - The Reds, Pinks And Purples
5. Turas - Fergus McCreadie Trio
On my audition list. Later albums have different strengths but do seem a bit diluted compared to this.
