WordPress is a democracy; it needs to remain so. Federated and Independent Repositories "FAIR" as you noted, is where we need to be.

Very well-made points in your post @joost.blog. Thank you for offering to step up as a leader in this disrupted time. The past several months has been so uncomfortable learning how tightly the foundation of this technology is held by a single individual.
