US judge again blocks Trump ban on lawmakers' surprise visits to detention centers A federal judge on Monday blocked a renewed attempt by President Donald Trump's administration to bar members of Congress from making unannounced visits to immigrant detention facilities.

A federal judge in Washington, D.C. (Judge Jia M. Cobb) issued a new order blocking DHS from enforcing a policy that required Members of Congress to give seven days’ advance notice before visiting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facilities.

Bovino frustrated by directive to conduct ‘targeted operations’ in Chicago The former commander-at-large of Border Patrol, Gregory Bovino, clashed with other administration officials over immigration enforcement tactics months before fatal shootings in Minneapolis.

if you needed the receipts, here's email proof via @nbcnews.com that Trump's raids are indeed indiscriminate. www.nbcnews.com/politics/imm...

Remember when Musk tried to out Trump for being a pedo then had to take it back because he forgot he helped Trump rig the last election?

Agreed. I prefer video-conferences such things, for several reasons I share with you in your thread:

it's extremely bad and as @jchavezmpls.bsky.social has made clear, it's being done in a moment that virtually guarantees a much whiter skew than our local electorate actually is. completely non-representative.

I need everyone on Bsky to understand what a margin-call is so they will know how we can bankrupt the oligarchs.

Regarding water consumption, not to argue the point but simply as context: from the little research I have done all of the data-centers in the US use around .3% of our fresh water, which is about 20% of that used for fracking and counts all data-center based hosting, gmail to bluesky.

Over the course of my career machine generated code has generally worked at least as well as human authored code, however this has changed dramatically in the last few years as non-technically inclined people realize their access to create software. We hand-wrote the programs to program then.

ICE kidnapped 5 people from my community this morning. I don’t live in Minneapolis. I live in LA County. They’re still here and their still brutalizing.

(FTR, I complete take the point about quality but as we're discussing this because of the use AI to create art that did become popular I have to assume that's moot here..)

Would this apply also to my own work as a software developer? Machine generation of digital stuffs is hardly new - most of the programs we write in software testing are machine generated at this point. It was much easier to get work as a free lance developer/tester before rapid development.

Thanks. This also answers my follow-up, I suspect. Is any amount of use of AI in creating art is too much?

I'm mulling the difference between LLM vs angrythmics like fancy PS brushes. I can see that photoshop brushes take education/practice.

What else should I be thinking of?

Do you have have a source for this being AI generated - the only article I noticed floating about that appears to have spoken with the creator says the he "created then refined to a vector image" which is pretty ambiguous. I'm assuming people are pretty given so many people a making alternatives.

My other thought on this is that obviously I want Peggy as the replacement for Tina, and not Angie. I don't want Angie as the replacement for Amy, either, if god forbid we get stuck with Amy as our governor.

Bruce Springsteen - Streets Of Minneapolis (Official Audio)
Bruce Springsteen - Streets Of Minneapolis (Official Audio) YouTube video by Bruce Springsteen

I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

Vote NO on DHS Minibus - Defund ICE Completely Text SIGN PBKLZC to 50409 — I urge you to vote NO on the four-bill minibus appropriations package unless it completely defunds ICE. The modest transparency requirements negotiated for the $75 billion slush fund created by H.R. 1 are wholly inadequate given ICE’s ongoing pattern of violence and constitutional violations. Since its establishment in 2003, ICE has terrorized communities, conducted unconstitutional checkpoints, denied due process, and subjected detainees to abuse. Recent atrocities have escalated alarmingly—including nine ICE shootings since September 2025, most recently the killing of Renee Good in Minnesota. These violent attacks target both immigrants and U.S. citizens, demonstrating that ICE operates as a lawless agency accountable to no one. The $75 billion from H.R. 1 created an unaccountable deportation slush fund with no meaningful guardrails. Minor transparency measures do nothing to address the fundamental problem: ICE has proven itself incapable of operating within constitutional and legal boundaries. No amount of oversight can reform an agency whose core mission involves systematic human rights violations. From a fiscal responsibility perspective, taxpayers should not fund an agency that operates outside the law while costing billions annually. These resources could support actual public safety priorities rather than militarized immigration enforcement that makes communities less safe. I strongly urge you to: 1. Vote NO on the DHS minibus unless it eliminates ICE funding entirely 1. Propose amendments stripping all ICE appropriations from the bill 1. Support legislation clawing back the $75 billion slush fund from H.R. 1 1. Advocate for ICE’s complete dissolution and replacement with accountable immigration processing Our communities deserve better than an agency that kills citizens and immigrants alike while burning through billions in taxpayer funds without meaningful oversight. Anything short of complete defunding enables continued violence and constitutional violations. Will you commit to voting against this appropriations package unless ICE is fully defunded?

Have never been to Minnesota in my life but I grew up with MST3K playing on a loop on my computer and that does a weird thing to your brain where you’re like “why do I know what Menards is?”

I'm having fun imagining what one's perception of Minnesota might be if known primarily through MST3K.

Statement from Michael and Susan Pretti
Parents of Alex Jeffrey Pretti

“We are heartbroken but also very angry.

Alex was a kindhearted soul who cared deeply for his family and friends and also the American veterans whom he cared for as an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA hospital. Alex wanted to make a difference in this world. Unfortunately, he will not be with us to see his impact.

I do not throw around the ‘hero’ term lightly. However, his last thought and act was to protect a woman. The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting. Alex is clearly not holding a gun when attacked by Trump’s murdering and cowardly ICE thugs. He had his phone in his right hand and his empty left hand is raised above his head while trying to protect the woman ICE just pushed down, all while being pepper sprayed.

Please get the truth out about our son. He was a good man. Thank you.
