Front row seats! I’m so close I can smell John Lithgow’s cigarette
Yes, this is real.
Just in time for #marchmadness - y’all need to read this novel!
Portrait of an older Black man wearing an enormous red cowboy hat with enormous red pointy boots and a matching red suit reclined and looking pensive and stylish as hell.
Texas is a state that seems to breed unique characters and Ronnie Mathis was one of my favorites. I saw him at the mall once and it was like seeing Santa Claus. Rest in peace to a gentle soul who wanted to bring joy to the world. www.kristv.com/news/local-n...
I think about this all the time. Like can everyone please leave me alone for a solid calendar year so I can catch up with my reading? Then I can rejoin society.
FOR REAL. I’m not married to him and I want that episode out of my brain.
I love that. It’d still be an honor to have Mary Gaitskill rip your writing to shreds.
Just a year ago, we heard reducing the deficit was so important Elon Musk had to fire as many scientists, forest rangers and Black women on the government’s payroll that he could find.
Now? 🤷🏾♂️
No my husband mourns it as well. I’ll never look at Benny Blanco the same way.
My husband thought he was getting us tickets to the Red Hot Chili Peppers and ended up buying tickets to the Red Hot Chili PIPERS. Please consider me in your prayers 🙏

It’s possible my father in law died of Covid complications last year. We’ll never know but it’s still going on. Unbelievable.
Then put me in jail bc I stole years of my life back from not having to watch another Toyotathon ad 🤣
Congratulations!!
The last great invention was DVR. That was the peak of civilization.
Agreed. There are real use cases where AI could be incredible (medical diagnosis) but it was just unleashed with no guardrails and no guidance and no plan other than the oligarchs getting richer.
Yeah Frito Pie’s not weird either. It’s chili that you eat with Fritos 🤷♀️
Put this little lady in my novel in progress. I love Bouguereau even though 1) he’s not cool and 2) his young women always freak me out. I described her expression here as “confrontational ennui” but I feel like there’s a lot more going on .. he knows who broke the pitcher.
It was fun to speak to Damien Ober about his new novel Voidverse, which is good and weird as hell. Thanks @portersqbooks.bsky.social!
In other news we’re still doing bras as camisoles.
AWP highlight for sure 😍

I’ve been listening to these albums that attempt to turn the descent into dementia into music. It’s very hard to listen to but there’s something incredibly beautiful about the melodies as they fracture and disintegrate.
It feels like the right soundtrack for these times.

The world could be such a nice place if we allowed it. It's all so goddamn unnecessary. There's no need for any of it. It's so beautiful here. It should be so cool to be alive

@peter23.bsky.social aren’t you sad you’re not coming to Boston this weekend? 😂
Meanwhile in Massachusetts…
