A black and white photo of Ivo Dominguez Jr.'s book, The Four Elements of the Wise, featured on a tablet.
One of my favorite witchy reads from last year: Ivo Dominguez Jr.'s THE FOUR ELEMENTS OF THE WISE. This book was deeply thought-provoking and expanded my perspective on the elements. Definitely a book I'd return to (though I took copious notes). #WitchSky

The dirty secret is that those of us who refuse to give up our intellects to machines will be at an immense advantage to people who do give up their thinking and writing to machines. They may get words on a page faster, but when it comes to actual thought (which is vital)? They'll be helpless.

A promotional graphic for a public Patreon post. The background features the painting "Morpheus and Iris" by Pierre-Narcisse Guรฉrin in textured grayscale. White text on top reads: Morpheus: The Daimon of Dreams: His Origins and Modern Identity. Featured link: patreon.com/morphicmythos.
As a former worshiper of Morpheus, I've wanted to write about his anomalous existence in Hellenic polytheism, so I compiled some thoughts about him, with emphasis on his origins and his modern identity. #HellenicPolytheism ๐ฎ

I want liberation for everyone.
Not just the people I like, the people who like me, or the people in my communities.
I want free food and housing and healthcare and education and representation for EVERYONE. Human rights are for EVERYONE. And if you hate my guts, I want those things for you too.

I do, but I'm losing access to it due to recent changes for nonresidents. This really bums me out because the library I was using had a fantastic occult/pagan ebook collection! My current borrow is Ronald Hutton's QUEENS OF THE WILD; my last borrow was Laura Tempest Zakroff's SIGIL WITCHERY. ๐ฎ

Thank you, Artemis, for giving me the courage and determination to finish this anthology submission, even if my work ultimately wasn't accepted. Not all hunts end successfully, but I'm proud of myself for having tried. ๐ค

Image of Kybele seated on a throne flanked by two lions, holding a pomegranate in one hand and a frame drum in the other. On the back is an image of two pine trees, like that found at her shrine in a temple of Aesclepius.

A graphic advertising a new Patreon post. White text on a black textured background reads: Votive Journals: A Devotional Offering; For Deity Worship and Gratitude. Featured link: patreon.com/morphicmythos
๐ PATRON POST ๐
This is an idea that fell into my head at the beginning of August. It was inspired by the ancient Greek tendency to leave votive offerings at temples in gratitude for fulfilled wishes. I wanted to incorporate something similar into my own practice!

I'm inclined to agree with this. I'm not yet at a point where I'm working a lot of magick consistently (I'm figuring some stuff out), but I don't like the idea of "locking myself out" of my own practice because I'm not calm or joyful.

To quote Kelly-Ann Maddox in WITCH IN DARKNESS: "If you expect your witchcraft practice to look perfect and for you to be perfect whenever you engage in it, you will not trust it as a haven when youโre scared, sad, angry, stressed or unsure. You will alienate yourself from it when you need it most."

Learning how to communicate with your chosen "higher power" (Deities, spirits, ancestors, HGA, Higher Self, etc.) is an important first step in magick because many of your questions can be answered by them. The less you communicate with them, the more you'll be reliant on external sources.

A recent read for my deep-dive on Artemis. I really appreciate Ionescu's attempts to expand on some of the lesser-known aspects of this underrated goddess. ๐น๐ค

Inspired by recent developments in my own practice, here are some thoughts about the possibility of Hekate retreating from our practice or "passing the torch" to another deity/spirit.

Black and white photo of Sorita d'Este's anthology Hekate Her Sacred Fires, displayed on a tablet.
HEKATE HER SACRED FIRES is an anthology I've started recommending to those new to Hekate because it's a great overview of just how vast and varied Hekatean worship is in modern day. ๐ฅ

Just got my hands on Carla Ionescu's SHE WHO HUNTS. Hoping it'll make for some great devotional reading/research. ๐ฆ๐น
It's a shame it's so hard to find decent sources on Artemis's historical worship, though.

This seems to happen to a lot of Hekatean candles, lol. Very appropriate for the Torchbearer! ๐

If you want to befriend the trees, take them some water, ask them their name. Say hello when you see them. Thank them for protecting your home and the land you live on. Most people pay trees no mind, but theyโre watchful guardian spirits. #WitchSky #PaganSky #SpiritWork

I'm honestly really tempted now to go back through my journals to see just how long I was being pointed toward Artemis.
The more I reflect on it, the more I'm beginning to realize that Artemis really is the presence I need right now, and it grieves me that I waited this long to focus on Her. ๐

It's all good! Most creative types are designed to *create,* not to sell ourselves, so it's extra painful for us. But yes, it's rough out there regardless. Definitely not what I signed up for when I was a kid dreaming of being a prolific author. ๐ฅน Better to just enjoy the process of writing!

As an author who chose self-pub, I had to change my approach and mindset after a few years because the publishing landscape was so depressing (and I sunk SO much money into it for very little return). Writing as a hobby is probably the way to go!

I haven't, but my understanding is that it's heavily witch-centeredโa modern grimoire, basically, that revolves around Hekate. Many people seem to dig it, though I've heard a few readers claim it's too dark & edgy for them. (I had a peek at the introduction; I can see why some would say this, lol.)

A black and white photo of Tara Sanchez's book THE TEMPLE OF HEKATE, displayed on a tablet.
Compiled a few thoughts on Tara Sanchez's THE TEMPLE OF HEKATE. I don't see this book discussed as much as, say, Sorita d'Este's works, but it was still an intriguing read. Probably of interest to Hekatean worshipers who lean Helpol.

It's a collection of essays about Hekate, but it's a little dated (1992), so there are some "interesting" takes in there. Probably the driest book on Hekate I've read too. I'd say it works best as a supplemental read once more reliable sources have been tapped.
