In the 1960s more than 40% of the money you spent went straight back to Government, everything spent on Water, Oil, Gas, Coal, Electricity, Social Housing, Telecoms, Steel, Ships...
Now it's less than 5%, the rest all goes to billionaires Tax Havens
That's why there is no money
Well put
This is just one of the many reasons why the world thinks American food is awful
Nigel Farage got £750,000 from Coutts as compensation for nothing.
Even worse Coutts is owned by NatWest which is 39% owned by you.
So YOU paid Nigel Farage £292,750, for whining because he didn't have enough money for an account.
RT if he needs to repay every penny.
For me, what was more worrying was the Tory response on R4 Today, where Robert Jenrick talked about the country needing ‘breathing space’ (lebensraum)
All the fuss about Starmer’s ‘island of strangers’ comment- I wonder if we’ll hear anything at all about Robert Jenrick on R4 saying ‘we need breathing space’? I heard that and immediately heard ‘lebensraum’. Chilling - and completely unchallenged.
Dr. Anthony Fauci urges Americans not to accept "Normalization of Untruths".
What annoys me so much about Andrea Jenkyns is SHE WAS A TORY MP! SHE GOT HER DAMEHOOD FROM BORIS!!! And she acts like she is an insurgent force who has nothing to do with the problems she now says Reform will solve!!!!
Not sure that committing not to follow ‘illegal’ practices is that big of a win
Biggest commitment to a 3 second joke I've ever seen
Rand Paul: "The whole [tariffs] debate is so fundamentally backwards & upside down. It's based on a fallacy & the fallacy is this: that somehow in a trade, someone must lose. That somehow when you trade with someone, someone is taking advantage of you... I have a trade deficit with my grocery store"
I appreciate that comment. We’ve discussed it as a liberal-minded family and feel we would have to self edit in bars and restaurants. We’re also boycotting US products as far as possible. No more bourbon for me😢. Need to find an alt to US streaming services. Good luck and see you on the other side🤞🏼
Exactly. No need to worry about popularity or unrest. Plus, Govnt owns everything anyway, including most of Europe, Africa and Asia
I’m sorry for its impact on you personally but my family will definitely not be visiting US anytime soon. In fact, we’ve booked to go to Canada instead.
So, it’s goodbye to #MakersMark, goodbye #WoodfordReserve, goodbye #BuffaloTrace. No more Old Fashioneds. Perhaps the only US products I’ll miss. Certainly not their shitty food or cars.
I'm not sure that's how statistics work.
Or both
Short thread but worth the effort

Correction: 'Malhuret'
There's so much that's wonderful in this speech from Claude Manhuret in the French senate – thoughtful, noble, articlulate and wise – but this is still my favourite bit. I'm sorry.

Oh. Can't seem to find The Telegraph's coverage of this. Or The Mail's.
Surprise surprise.
The campaign to keep private school fees exempt from VAT included encouraging parents to lie about their intention to move children to the state sector. Hardly surprising that almost none have done that bit.ly/41D35L9 some predictions were that 90,000 would be moved
As Honest Bob Jenrick tours the country repeating far-right conspiracy talking points about “two-tier sentencing”, here is the letter his own government sent to the Sentencing Council last year approving the very Guidelines he now claims are evidence of “two-tier Keir”.
The man is a fraud.
My warmest greetings go out to the wonderful people who built their careers sniffing out “Ukrainian Nazis” under every stone in Ukraine for tasty headlines that fueled Russian war propaganda on this-is-why-Ukraine-must-be-dealt-with, only to get Nazi salutes normalized in their own country.
America has always wanted a king. Now they’ve got one.
