I don’t have anything, but as a practitioner getting ready to deploy a household survey, I’d love to see what you find.

I would argue that the case for dismantling ICE has, at this point, virtually nothing to do with larger questions of immigration enforcement and reform, it's just clearly incompatible with a free and democratic society to maintain a secret police force with sweeping and arbitrary authority.

5-year-old boy among four students detained by ICE, according to school leaders School district leaders argue ICE agents are following students and their parents while driving to and from school.

ICE just detained a 5-year-old child.

Don’t tell us this is about “the worst of the worst.” That’s a lie.

Absolutely vile.

This picture broke me, but the description of this kidnapping by a witness who says ICE referred to this precious child as “it” as they took him away fills me with an unspeakable, murderous rage.

Economists should be quite clear in their interpretation of jobs numbers going forward. We cannot let the media add a simple caveat to next month’s numbers. This is serious. A high quality media would investigate any and all differences in surveying, responses and analysis from this moment forward.

It’s now clear that those of us who told everyone this would happen— because we understood American history and how tenuous our democracy and institutions are— were not hysterical, overreacting, or fear mongering. We saw a White supremacist agenda for what it is. And we were right. Absolutely right.

Boelter is apparently facing federal charges. Which opens to door to a presidential pardon if convicted (if not before). There should be a state prosecution here to make sure justice actually gets served (and so evidence re motive is not selectively presented to conform to predetermined narratives)

When a cabinet member announces "We are using the military to liberate an American city from its elected leaders," where do you go from there. What is left to say. The idea of that being anything short of a near-universal "Wait, what the fuck is going on" moment proves how far we've backslid.

You do not have to say “pro vaccine groups.” You can say the vast majority of doctors and scientists and the American Medical Association.

The way @nationalacademies.org has bent the knee has been one of the biggest disappointments from orgs that should know and be better. They've capitulated at every turn and predictably have still had fed their funding dry up. TRB is basically walled off and has still chosen to stand for nothing.

It's so sad to see such a valuable organization destroy its own credibility so quickly.

To see the email say "TRB is committed to continuing to provide leadership in transportation improvements and innovation through trusted, timely, impartial, and evidence-based information exchange, research, and advice regarding all modes of transportation. " Does anyone believe that anymore?

I cannot stress enough how much of a Def Con 1 moment this is. Federal judges fear that the President of the United States will stand down security for judges in retaliation for adverse decisions.

This is such a huge story.

Sen. Booker’s speech was a substantive and moral account of this moment. He did not read the phone book. He did not babble.
For 24 hours @booker.senate.gov laid out a detailed, damning, and critical narrative of truth, history, politics, morality, humanity.

What will you do?

Whenever I ask TRB staff the messages I get are “our funding is federal, we need to follow the rules” and “remember that most projects weren’t canceled”

Opinion | If Pete Hegseth Had Any Honor, He Would Resign A defense secretary intentionally using a civilian app to share sensitive war plans without noticing a journalist was in the chat would be egregious.

Pete Hegseth in 2016: "The people we rely on to do dangerous and difficult things for us rely on one thing from us: That we will not... be reckless with the dangerous things they are doing for us. That's the national security implications of a private server that's unsecured."
