Was moved/overjoyed/inspired to talk to @elainagmamaril.bsky.social about disability, podcasting, and who gets to determine what constitutes knowledge. I am even recommending this to my non-RC friends and colleagues as an episode on how to be an excellent human being.

Sad/relieved to say that we've actually fixed research culture and therefore no longer need to have a podcast or a job or ethics committees or anything! Woohoo! #AprilFools
Very proud to be co-organising this. Research Culture work can sometimes feel both political and isolating. We're hopeful this workshop will feel reparative, collaborative, and help us uncover what RC work can learn from other social and political movements. We'd love to see you there ✊
Let's goooo! My first podcast episode is out in the wild (get used to this: there's a lot of me to come!). Thanks to Nicola and Amy for being swell colleagues and pals.
Being quoted 3 times in today's plenary session????

@emilyennis.bsky.social giving a ⚡️ talk on the use of dazzle camo to stealthily embed Research Culture initiatives in everyday University practices… just kidding. It was on how we should be research culture plumbers 🪠and look to build systems that prevent even the worst users from messing things up!
Pals ❤️❤️❤️
Happy birthday to me, I guess!!!
But no, seriously, spending 2 days at the Wellcome Trust celebrating all things research culture is probably the funnest grown-up way to spend your birthday.
I'm sure the West Coast line is also nice but we were not blessed by being able to see that 🫠🫠🫠 Currently arriving in Newcastle after a speed along the coast and honestly it's starting to make the whole debacle worth it!
So, we got stuck in Scotland overnight and ended up in EDINBURGH, doing a mini Research Culture Scottish tour. You'll be relieved to hear we are now en route home, seeing the most gorgeous views from the East Coast train.
Each month we collate a playlist for our Research Culture newsletter readers. This month, we're celebrating LGBTQIA+ artists. As it's Friday, why not start the weekend disco now?: youtube.com/playlist?lis...

Energising day at the N8 Research Culture and Environment group away day in Durham today. Somehow managed to drag my arthritic body up all the hills, which paid dividends for a lovely meander to the station along the river on the way back. Watch this space for some emerging N8 RCE insights!!
I am truly entering my podcast era 🎙
Thanks so much to @elainagmamaril.bsky.social for having me and letting me talk about the place of disability in research culture (amongst many other things!).
I'm a podcast!
Blue was very sad to discover that you're all very sad today? Because of him? Even stopped playing with his pumpkin toy when he heard about it.
🆕The #ResearchCultureUncovered podcast's back in 2026! @nickshepp.bsky.social talks to @jsendall.bsky.social about his career in academic libraries culminating in his recent appointment as Acting Librarian & Keeper of the Brotherton Collection at the @universityofleeds.bsky.social.
When people ask what my job is, I often say 'Wikipedia' but in reality it's more wide-ranging now than ever: here's a little blog post about what Topics for Impact could look like in 2026 and what I've been up to lately.

See you next year!
On this final full week before Christmas, and just in time for the end of #DisabilityHistoryMonth, why not read my interview with Armineh and Liz on how ableism presents itself in the HE sector, and how we've collectively and individually navigated it as disabled people.
Our take on the REF un-pause and the movement away from "Research Culture" (in name, but not necessarily in spirit!).
This is a fantastic opportunity from MERL!

Philip Larkin’s this be the verse mangled into Ozymandias, the text reads They Oz you up, your mandyias. They may not mean to, but they do. They give you vast and trunkless legs A sunken shattered visage too. But they were Ozzed up in their turn By Mandyias upon the sand Who half the time had wrinkled lips And half in sneering cold command. Oz hands on mandyias to man. Like mighty works atop a shelf Look on them early as you can Ye mighty and despair yourself

Break from work posts to mention that I've just completed Stride for Gaza, walking 98km for MAP. Pre-arthritis, I'd have run it. But my sore knees are nothing compared to ongoing suffering and atrocities in Palestine. 🇵🇸You can still donate here: medicalaidforpalestinians.enthuse.com/pf/emily-ennis
