Etymology of the day: before a tapering piece of hanging ice was called an ‘icicle’ it was an ‘ickle’. In the Middle Ages people decided to add ‘ice’ for extra oomph and (tautologically) called it an ‘ice ickle’, until the two words eventually blended together.

I'm not sure their provision is entirely suitable, although I bet it is very thought-provoking! 😂

Head buzzing with lots of thoughts about developing SEND provision in school! Visiting other schools has been thought-provoking and I'm so grateful to have these opportunities! 🥰 #Primary #SEND #PrimarySEND

Today I've had a fabulous visit to see a SEND class in a mainstream school. It's given me lots to think about! What are your must-haves in a #SEND or #SpecialEd classroom?

Just found my 'Aladdin Lyric book' made for me by a 6 yr old pupil a few years ago. We would talk about Disney musicals in the playground and she made this when she left school. I think it's one of the best gifts I've ever received! 😍

Why we need research-informed teaching that’s specific to primary Primary teaching needs to heed the messaging from cognitive science that is so prevalent in secondary schools, but adapt it to fit more closely with age and stage, says Emma Turner

Some negative responses to this on the other platform.
I have heard of schools where young children are sitting on the carpet for over an hour. More research focused on EYFS and lower primary is essential and long overdue.
