He is 27, but a brilliant player with experience, intelligence, technique and energy.

The disparity in the Women's Super League is still huge.

There are two or three sides who are levels above, while everyone else tries to catch up in terms of standards and professionalism.

Chelsea are at the top of that, and so Everton beating them is insane (but brilliant!) 💙

Brilliant 1-0 win for @evertonwomen.bsky.social, inflicting a first league defeat of the season on champions Chelsea.

Rearguard action after Hayashi's first-half goal

Goalkeeper Brosnan and defenders Mace + Fernandez all outstanding

Worrying when the commentators don't know what is going on!

Only the group winner qualifies for the knockout round, and I also just read that this result means mathematically we can't qualify even if we win the last group game.

We aren't through, the Women's League Cup has a group stage.

We get a point for the draw plus a bonus point for winning the shootout.

Would it not make more sense to give them chance to purchase a non-ST seat during same window that non-displaced ST holders buy their own seat?

At minimum there should be an alternate seat(s) reserved for them. Rather than a free-for-all scrap with Blue+ members where they could totally miss out.

Cheers Tom! It seemed like one of those things where an easy answer would reveal itself but you're right, the more you dig the more ambiguous it becomes.

Hopefully they just mangled the explanation rather than the process, but I'm still not sure!

It's not for myself but for someone on twitter who I just saw mention it.

I've tried to come up with some logical reasoning but there definitely seems to be a flaw in the process.

Unless I'm missing something!

Actually 9 teams: top 7 plus Palace and Spurs!

Will be interesting to see how they all cope with the extra games, especially Palace and Forest.

The last few seasons have aged Evertonians terribly, but David Moyes' return made us feel 15 years younger.

Nostalgia only works with results, and he got loads.

He has shown some of his best qualities by overachieving with an unbalanced squad, which he deserves backing to sort.

We would have finished 12th last season without point deductions tbf.

Still, a brilliant job done by Moyes and the team since he came in.

Fair point, but if they don't win then a European spot will likely just go to whoever finishes 8th.

1. I’m writing this with a heavy heart as we approach the final curtain in the Grand Old Lady’s history.
I’ve had the privilege of going to Goodison for 45 years and during that time I’ve experienced the most incredible highs of winning league championships, epic European matches and cup games…

I'm curious about these shorts now. Didn't give it much thought and presumed they were just from one of our alternate kits, but they don't seem to be.

Were they actually proper footy shorts or swim shorts with the mesh lining 😅

Maybe it's not that deep but I'll say it anyway.

We should add quality to squad whenever we can, but it takes time and we can't bin off virtually a whole squad in one go.

Players can't control their ability, and we still need players (even mediocre ones) while we gradually evolve/improve the club.

Relegation battle 2023/24: How many points needed for safety? We take a look at what total the clubs fighting to avoid the drop need and the history of past relegation battles

This article references 36 points as the average.

But tbh it was the maths that caught my eye. If you had meant to say 36 then your maths adds up.

If you meant 34, then we need even fewer results than you said. As we are currently on 26 points.

I think you meant to say 36 points, not 34.

If it was 34 we would only need 8 points.

3 wins and 1 draw = 10 points.

The Low-Down on FIFA's New Player Loan Regulations Big money permanent transfers are usually the headline grabbers but there have been some significant loan moves this window... Tanguy Ndombele from

The '4 loans' thing is domestic only and even then it's confusing because you can only have 2 at a time (in theory could have 2 til Jan, then a different 2). Harrison and Broja are our 2.

6 international loans allowed.

Matchday squad limits only for EFL, not Prem.

Of course, it would be daft to pretend it didn't need to end.

Prev 2 years were never going to be a period we looked back on fondly - club situation meant it was destined to be uncomfortable regardless.

Chains are being loosened now so we can move beyond our limitations, manager and players alike.

Job done was much more important than those two.

2/3 seasons he met the remit. Rightly sacked for losing the plot this season.

Rebuilding club is a process that will take a few managers. Each with a different skill set for situation.

His job with us was only ever short-term, but it was necessary.

PL rules only cover domestic loans. Have no bearing on international loans.

Clubs are allowed 6 international loans in, 6 international loans out.

The 4 the PL refer to are solely domestic. Only 2 at one time (e.g. could have 2 til Jan, then another 2).

Yeah I see what you're getting at. Most managers retain their key backroom staff over their career though so it isn't a problem in itself. SAF managed 26 years and still only a handful of coaches.

The problem is when they (specifically the manager) fail to find answers, as we are seeing at present.

1 year ago 1 0 1 0

I just think there is plenty of stuff we can see on the pitch to criticise, rather than more abstract things like this where we don't know what impact they have.

I'd compare it to criticism of Dunc when he was a coach with us - people criticised without any knowledge of his role or what he offered.

I think it's a lazy assumption to say that there is a lack of diverse thinking.

Article below from @paddyboyland.bsky.social touches on how IW and SD can clash over opinions.

We're in danger of finding faults in things that are impossible for us to know much about.

A

With this squad, massive.

Proper investment = better players, which will allow us to ease the handbrake off our football like people want.

Naturally the defensive side gets lost in the trade-off so these results will be less likely.

Hopefully more wins/goals overall though to compensate.
