For the first time in a while, we can trot out this old chestnut (and almost mean it) - youtu.be/LasrD6SZkZk
Is anyone else freaking excited about #ARTEMISII? As someone who's about 50/50 (or maybe 30/70 - centerforaninformedamerica.com/moondoggie-1/) that we went to the moon before, a trip around in 2026 would go a long way with me. Sending positive vibes to the 'nauts on board for a safe mission! 🙏❤️✌️
Once more ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Tim Wilson (RIP) - youtu.be/4-xOtbr2bjE
"Mama made a well-rounded outcast outta me..."
Guys, you should check out @davekarpf.bsky.social and subscribe to his newsletter. That is all.
8/In the most innocent explanation, courts, cops, and probation officers - local and Fed - were WAY too lenient with a sociopath who should have been locked back up any number of times b4 the murders. However, is that all this was? You decide.
7/It's entirely possible - even most likely, imho - that a program of subversion, by the time it hit the streets, spiraled into a sprawling behemoth and they completely lost control, with late summer 1969 the culmination. Dig into the Church Committee hearings for proof that illegal ops were afoot.
6/Or was it simply fear of the "other" - African Americans, college students who refused to go along, immigrants, etc.? We'll never know for sure, so I'll let you be the judge. Either way, there's strong evidence that Manson was plugged into someone, somewhere. Also remember, real life ain't TV.
5/There's a whole other side to this decade you've never been told. Student protests at UC Berkeley started as far back as 1961, and by 65, the tide was turning against LBJ and the hubris-filled CIA/FBI stepped in to "crisis manage" the situation. Was there genuine fear of foreign influence?
4/Dave McGowan's work on Laurel Canyon and the birth of the hippies dovetails nicely here - centerforaninformedamerica.com/inside-the-l... - and will blow away what you thought you knew about the free love icons who, coincidentally, mostly came from military intelligence parents. Odd, right? Mmhmm.
3/By 1969, "former" military intelligence officers posing as hippies were embedded deeply into SF, most notably to foment discord among groups and turn the country against the liberal left (I've heard this somewhere before...🤔). Sharon Tate's own father, for instance, was high-ranking military.
2/...it does lay waste to the Helter Skelter theory proposed by lead prosecutor/inveterate liar Vince Bugliosi. It also investigates the strange cast of characters around the scene, coincidentally the height of FBI's COINTELPRO and the CIA's CHAOS programs. And not just fake hippie military types.
1/Hoo baby, fans of 60s history should check out "Chaos: Charles Manson, the Cia, and the Secret History of the Sixties" by Tom O'Neill - bookshop.org/p/books/chao.... No, it absolutely doesn't absolve Manson & Family of the murders, nor does it imply they were instigated by the CIA. But...
Sheesh, talk about stepping on your own dick. If your first instinct is to defend "Birth of a Nation" as misunderstood, you've already exposed yourself as a fuckwit.
Very beautiful piece from @davekarpf.bsky.social about the loss of his beloved dog, Sherlock. Agreed that anyone who's lost a pet can relate. Definitely worth the read.
Shouting out some local Fredericktown, MO boys - Flat River Band, the Sitze boys. Their grandpa, MG, ran the barbershop. Here's them with the Oak Ridge Boys on a great collab - youtu.be/FTyEK8MPfFo. Anytime my home town isn't notable for kidnapping, murder, or poor education is a good day.
I had no idea there was a festival dedicated to Rod Serling, but it makes me very happy to learn it. If you've never watched TZ, the themes are as applicable today as they were then. True visionary.
To any Vatican assassins who may be reading this post: I want to state, unequivocally, the Pope has yet to refute any of my reporting on the #Quiltnocracy. I think we ALL must ask ourselves why that is...
+1 for Ghost! As a glutton for punishment, I've been self-hosting for years, but their hosted version is cheap and as controversy-free as any online platform can be in the 20s. Good luck with the switch and I'll follow along.
Thank you! ❤️
Thank you Redhead! ❤️
3/Despite it (or because of it) they all created better lives for their kids. Trish earned her Masters and worked at the community college level as an educator and admin. I don't say this to garner sympathy, but to let you know who she is. I thank you in advance! 🙏❤️
2/My grandpa Joe was a WW2 vet who drank himself to death in his 30s, leaving behind 5 kids. My grandma, God rest her, picked up where he left off, working as a nurse in pre-welfare Missouri and drinking the rest of the time. I wouldn't raise dogs in some of the places my Mom lived as a child.
1/Good morning BSky fam. Need to ask a favor. I need all the prayers and positive healing vibes y'all can muster for my aunt Trish who found out yesterday she has a pretty advanced ovarian cancer. Chemo, etc, but prognosis is not great. Trish, and all my Mom's siblings, came up from a rough start.
3/One thing that miffes me - Mastercard crapping their logo all over the official video because they're sponsoring his tour (stadiums, btw). But it ain't 1970. We say "shit" casually in songs and the music industry is dying. At least it's not AI-generated. Agree or disagree? What do you guys think?
2/But there's a lot of great songwriters. Flash in the pan? Maybe. But check this out - youtu.be/eIV330sRz34. That's a packed Fenway Park singing along with every word. Maybe it's just me and that's ok, but there's something about this guy's songwriting that resonates with me.
1/I don't say this lightly at all, but Noah Kahan has the potential to be up there with John Prine. "The Great Divide" is such a FANTASTIC song - youtu.be/wRzEvqbrn2c. Man, what a writer. My wife turned me on to "Stick Season" last year, and I enjoyed it, but this is something more.
Republicans: this what you voted for?
Of course this idiot from Missouri has to be in the picture with a big ol' shit eatin'grin on his face, as we say down home.
5/The 2nd uncoolest thing? Lip syncing. Kid Rock managed to do both in a single performance - www.youtube.com/live/nJszMT9... (embarrassingly he didn't even TRY during Bawitdaba). Tho he does now look like the meth heads in the trailer park next to my friend's house. The circle is complete? 😜
