A good indicator of success is effort.
Big news. OneCity, COPE, and the Greens have signed a Progressive Unity Agreement. We did the hard work, and we got it done. Here's what it means and why it matters.
Vancouver's three "progressive" parties — COPE, Greens and OneCity — have announced an agreement to only have five council candidates each in this year's election.
They will also "agree to engage in a good-faith effort to determine which progressive mayor is best suited to
compete" over the summer.
At Nettie Wild’s showing of her hypnotic, beautiful film about the salmon videos she projected onto the underside of the Cambie Bridge. A nice shout out from her to city engineering for their enthusiasm for the work, and OneCity William Azaroff for early Vancity money
Now THAT’S a message, not just for Paris voters, but for every city in the world. The city-building inspiration from the most inspiring city in the world will continue! Congratulations @egregoire.bsky.social! #Paris
What is Emmanuel Grégoire, the new Paris mayor, planning for the city over his new term in office?
—60,000 new social housing units
—15 express bus routes
—Completion of city's full bike network
—Transformation of ring highway into a boulevard
—1000 new pedestrian streets
—300 new hectares of parks
Merci !
It was working a bit ago, perhaps an administrative error that’s now been corrected.
Huge thanks to @lucymaloney.bsky.social and @seanorr.bsky.social who brought a motion to fund Car Free Day and prevent its cancellation! And kudos to all of council for passing this unanimously. We will see you there!

There’s one way to deal with a bully.
Go get him @seanorr.bsky.social.
Having an issue with my voting link so I have to endure emails a little longer 🥲
Go, Frances, go! One of Canada's most fair-minded, empathetic, and sensible journalists is running for council. Someone who actually knows the inner workings of city hall has put her name forward! I hope you don't get trolled too badly, Frances, because there are lots of nasty folks out there.
Dear my delightful tweeps, some news! So after 30 years of City Hall and urban-issues stories that you all know, I'm doing something completely different — I’ve decided to run for a City Council nomination with @onecityvan.bsky.social and hopefully run on their slate this October.
Many journalists have made the leap from journalism to politics...
I have to say, I didn't expect Frances to be one of them.
Not that I don't understand the impulse.
Watching from the sidelines there's only so much you can take.
This is a big deal in Vancouver politics circles.
@fabulavancouver.bsky.social has been reporting on Vancouver politics for decades. You can make a good case that no one knows the city's politics better than she does.
A real get for OneCity.
I'm astonished and impressed
Damn
Today in interesting local politics and local media news: @fabulavancouver.bsky.social seems to be making the leap to local politics and will join OneCity.
I phoned @fabulavancouver.bsky.social, and she officially declined comment until the “career transition” becomes public tomorrow.
This isn’t just a mistake an apology to @seanorr.bsky.social can fix. This is opens up the city to huge liability.
What other decisions has Ken Sim made that we now need to question the source and reliability of them?
💔
In a democracy, we are free to disagree. But we must never, ever lie about each other. This isn’t okay.
We're bringing champagne to the ground breaking 🥂
We tried to speak with Sim after a public hearing ended at city hall, but Sim and Zhou quickly left through the back private door with Sim’s chief of staff.
I’ll continue to let you know when we hear back.
19 years after it was first conditionally approved, all levels of government have finished signing off on the necessary steps to build a school in Vancouver’s Olympic Village.
A final year of debate and planning was required to raise the number of floors for the school from 3 to 4.
My response to ABC Councilor Lenny Zhou making serious, false, and malicious accusations about the four non-ABC councillors, including @lucymaloney.bsky.social of @onecityvan.bsky.social, on his civic matters short video series targeted at the Chinese community.

Wide protected bike-lane in Downtown Vancouver filled with people on bikes.
It’s really important that #Vancouver’s Downtown Business Association, who were originally against bike-lanes, are now among their most vigourous supporters, because of ACTUAL EVIDENCE that they’re better for downtown business than any street parking they replaced.
Safe bike-lanes mean business.
Ken Sim won’t be defeated by posts, polls, or prayers. He’ll be defeated in a vote.
That takes conviction in a single progressive candidate who can unify this city.
Just voted for @wazaroff.bsky.social in OneCty’s mayoral nomination. If you’re a OneCity member check your email and vote!
Very important proposal for bus signal priority in Vancouver by Mayoral hopeful @wazaroff.bsky.social running for @onecityvan.bsky.social. Transportation equity means prioritizing transit that’s moving a LOT more people in a lot less space. That’s ironically better for EVERYONE, including drivers.
