I was surprised to find an example of "Mickey Mousing" in a non-comedic context live action film, but that's the approach Max Steiner took to a slow walk in 'The Most Dangerous Game'. I wonder if the actor was asked to time his steps to a rhythm.
What's your reaction? Does it work for drama?
When I talked about this cartoon on Twitter, I mentioned it seemed like it probably inspired both Ren & Stimpy and Super Mario Bros. 3, but it just hit me that it probably also inspired the Camel with the Wrinkled Knees' hallucinations in Raggedy Ann and Andy: A Musical Adventure!
Directed by Vincent Waller, incidentally
Hideaki Anno originally wanted Neon Genesis Evangelion's opening theme to be music from the Polovtsian Dances from the opera "Prince Igor" by Alexander Borodin.
The Ren & Stimpy pilot, "Big House Blues", screened at festivals introduced by music from the Polovtsian Dances. The same excerpt? Maybe!
You haven't lived until you've heard Charlie Adler's cowboy impression.
Team Rocket's plan this time: dig a hole, climb in the hole, wait for the twerps, then... pop out of the hole. That's it.
This is probably something like what marginalized people seeking representation in media feel like all the time. "Can the sci-fi/action movie be about lesbians and also have a happy ending?" That feels like a category that should have a few works in it but I can't think of anything.
I'm so used to having to dig deep to find fiction that feels especially original and so used to most new works I encounter feeling like rehashes that it feels weird that I can think of so many categories of fiction that only have maybe one or two works in them and then if I want more there isn't any
I could swear it was Lovecraft (but it's also something Dick would probably say)
This song's title, "The Ghost of Gary", is very misleading! When Ron Hart sings about his girlfriend getting a phone call from Gary, I was expecting him to go on to sing, "But Gary's DEAD!" and then for the song to get spooky. Nope, it's just a metaphor! I feel ripped off!

Uncle Duck, Uncle Duck, Uncle Uncle Uncle Duck
An excerpt from "Dinner Time", a cartoon with full synchronized sound released over a month before "Steamboat Willie".
That seemed very wrong to me even as a kid, and I mostly just watched the show while waiting for something else to come on!
For all the times the people I interact with regularly have talked about The Super Mario Bros. Super Show, I haven't seen one person mention how dirty it was of them to say "Don't go away, paisanos, there's more!" when all that's left is "'Til next time everybody, do the Mario!" and the end credits.
You're Dr. Seuss?!
This scene from the 'Timon & Pumbaa' episode "Let's Serengeti Out of Here" got a lot of attention when I posted it some years ago on Twitter, and for good reason: the animation by Disney Australia is unsurpassed for TV. My tweets are all long deleted, and I still love the scene, so here it is again.

This special is so good and Dr. Seuss was an AMAZING lyricist.

Maybe Charmander was abandoned by its trainer in the anime because it refused to keep lighting his cigarettes out of concern for his health
Whenever chiptune music is used for a retro aesthetic it always seems to be NES-era. Give me more shows, heck, feature movies that sound like the music goes with an SNES game!
The Han Solo method of surnaming
He's a very fun character and 'Super Robot Monkey Team' is a surprisingly fun show!
