NASA guidance is to say that the crew assignments have not changed for Artemis due to Trump admin EOs, but the language about landing the first woman and first person of color on the Moon have been removed from NASA sites and releases.

NASA is working on new travel guidelines to try to make DOGE happy. There was an update to NPR 9710.1 (nodis3.gsfc.nasa.gov/displayDir.c...) but apparently the Administrator rejected it.
Long story short - a lot of useful travel is being cancelled.
Saw a note that NASA administrator Janet Petro is frustrated by leaks to @nasawatch.bsky.social
NASA is no longer nominating employees for the Impact Center's Aerospace Women's Executive Leadership Program due to executive orders banning DEI programs.

It repeated what was told to reporters yesterday, that NASA probationary employees fell under an exemption ("probationary employees align with our mission, contribute to national security or public safety, or fall under another valid exemption category") and about 5% of NASA civil servants took DRP
NASA is working to get a blanket waiver protecting its probationary employees from layoffs as agencies across the government grapple with headcount reductions www.bloomberg.com/news/article...
An attempt to improve IT communications is likely to slip by months as well due to the impacts of the new administration.
Photo of a trophy of two hands holding up a globe that says National Aeronautics and Space Administration Equal Opportunity Award with six small placards underneath, the oldest of which is engraved ‘Goddard Space Flight Center 1980’.
Just in case you thought DEI was some new-fangled idea at NASA, I found this Equal Opportunity Award trophy at NASA HQ today which was first awarded to Goddard Space Flight Center in ***1980***, which was 45 years ago for people who are too afraid to count.
Conference and meeting rooms is a key concern due to RTOW, and a planned improvement of conference room systems will likely be derailed from the strategic plan because of having to accommodate increased workforce on-site.
IT teams at #NASA are pushing operational priority deadlines out, sometimes months, to account for loss of resources from deferred resignations, and delays due to Return to Onsite Work and other executive orders.
Are you a recently dismissed federal employee? MSNBC.com is looking for first-person pieces about what you were working on, why you joined the government, etc.
We're interested in hearing from air traffic controllers, USAID employees, and everyone in between. Contact me at jdow.92 on Signal.
Knowing where you work, that's not at all surprising.
The Planetary Society strongly opposes the sudden, indiscriminate dismissal of more than 1,000 scientists, engineers, and explorers at NASA — the largest involuntary workforce reduction since the end of the Apollo program.

A dark and painful day at a space agency that brings so much light and joy to the world.

Hope it comes back up for you soon.
As these layoffs roll through, we can defend NASA without lionizing it. I'm not a unique genius. I'm not the best at what I do! I work really hard and so do a lot of other folks at NASA, and we deserve to be treated with respect as workers, not because what we do is uniquely brilliant or important.
Meanwhile, Boeing claims it's cutting fewer than 200 jobs on its SLS program now after its Friday all hands, citing meetings with NASA leadership www.bloomberg.com/news/article...
I'm in DC today for the CSF/FAA conference, where the question on everyone's mind is: what's going to happen with NASA's Artemis program? And is SLS a goner? Well we don't know for sure yet, but here's why changing the program will be hard work www.bloomberg.com/news/newslet...

Trump and the GOP are in a full-out war against science.
I have a lot to say about that.

For an administration that purports to “protect women,” they sure have a weird way of showing it.

I am a coauthor of this letter, which asks folks in power at NASA and other institutions of space exploration to do more to resist ongoing efforts, and instead support the incredibly diverse people across the country that make the field what it is. Sign here: sites.google.com/view/space-s...

Pronouns have been officially removed from display names at #NASA.
See the Langley Exchange as well for shirts and lanyards: larc-exchange.larc.nasa.gov/exchange-shop/
The Pride collection (currently left with a sweatshirt and hoodie) is still up at JSC's ShopNASA.com exchange: www.shopnasa.com/collections/...
Wouldn't it be a shame if they sold all of those?
Rep. Zoe Lofgren and Rep. Valerie Foushee penned a letter to NASA's acting administrator expressing concerns about DOGE potentially reaching the space agency and Musk's conflicts of interest as a NASA contractor
I mean, obviously, but still worth recording
I suppose we'll go back to guessing how to refer to the Kellys and Ashleys in the agency.
