The cover of the 2026 Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack
The good book has arrived. I feel like the cricket season can start now.
I bought 5 (five) of these singles. Still got them somewhere…
I have listened and will listen again. It’s a lovely conversation, well produced and so good to hear his story in such depth. Thank you.
Very traditional part of the British constitutional settlement on display here: a scaffolder finding something mislaid by someone in authority and carrying out his solemn duty of calling both the police and the Sun newsdesk.
Would dearly love a physical release, an LP @edwyncollins.bsky.social would sell
Edwyn Collins has just released an EP of live recordings from his triumphant show at the Royal Festival Hall earlier this year

A very happy Long Good Friday to all who celebrate.
Annie Nightingale was born OTD in 1940. My book #IntoTheGroove is partly dedicated to her work in broadcasting and when she died I put together a playlist of just some of the music I first heard on her request show. www.tunemymusic.com/share/N4UNN2...

Our “youngest is 28”. It’s life affirming. That information is wrong.
Someone on Twitter writes: "Are pleated pants back? Feel like they only work if you're over 50 and can trace your lineage directly to the Mayflower"
Been seeing a lot of tweets about whether pleats are back. Are they "in" or "out?" Are they modern or old?
Personally don't like this line of thinking, as it's driven by ready-to-wear trends, which forces you to update your wardrobe every decade. Let me give you another way to think about pleats. 🧵
The Mel Brooks documentary made it worthwhile worth it for us…
Jay Rayner would prefer it if you didn't ask about his day but oh god look at Julie Christie as.ft.com/r/4157e84c-f...
Ok. My understanding of the electoral fraud situation is this.
1. Democracy volunteers put out a statement at one minute past poll close. They said this was at a level they’d not seen before

Remember in the olden days when well-dressed journalists in smart suits and sharp hats would rush out of courtrooms to get to a payphone so they could let their desks know what the verdict was?
Yeah those days are gone.
Died on this day in 1964, (alas): the always wonderful Peter Lorre. In 2014 I wrote about him for the Telegraph (this is reposted on my blog, so no paywall required).
Two photos of Robert Mueller. In the first, he's seated in a beige trenchcoat. In the second, he's wearing a dark worsted suit with a white button-down collar shirt and navy foulard tie
Two photos of Robert Mueller. In the first, he's wearing a charcoal scarf with a black overcoats. In the second, he's wearing a dark worsted suit with a white button-down collar shirt and red fouldard tie. His watch is worn with the face on the underside of his wrist.
Mueller wallking with Obama and Comey. All three men are wearing dark suits with white shirts and dark shoes.
A photo of Mueller as a student with schoolmates. He's wearing a checked sport coat with light colored cotton pants, light colored shirt, and narrow four-in-hand tie.
Robert Mueller was one of the last well-dressed men in Washington. Soft shouldered suits with white button-down collar and foulard ties. Wore his watch on the underside of his wrist, as a holdover from his military training. One of the last to carry that classic American look.
You’re too kind, ta, but I’ll take it! Everything working forward from Louie Louie. What fun it was. Mind you, so was covering the occasional war and uprising but in very different ways…
Len Deighton novels Berlin Game, Mexico Set and London Match
Samson beats Palmer (not named) in the novels. Palmer beats Bond in the movies. His omelet skills are unsurpassable. Go well Len Deighton.
Thanks as ever Ian
She got it, simple as that. So few really do now. Big miss.
Reposts appreciated, last day tomorrow, cheers. x
What a fabulous night it was too. Still confused by the bouncers acting like they were patrolling a UK Subs gig in 1979…
They should put a monkey on the £50 note and a pony on the £10 note to confuse the hell out cockneys.
