I raise you four! We have to be up early to catch sight of them, unlike the bluetits and great tits who are around all day.

Think my daughter studied this (or another Brian Friel play) for AL English Lit, almost 20 years ago.

Was that with ping pong balls filled with rubber bands? My students were stunned when some didn't bounce! Great fun!

We had a reverse incident about 50 years ago. Home made red pjs left the sheets in a conference centre a lovely shade of pink. We did not confess, but pulled the hovers up and left swiftly at the end of the conference !

I think I must have been taught CAST at school, half a century ago, so it's fixed in my memory for positive and negative trig ratios. Retiring from the classroom and ending up in ITT has ironically given me the chance to think properly again about T&L.

Yes - I can't imply she's been badly taught!
But I'll do my best to ensure the trainee teachers under my care think at least twice before using them!

Arghhh!
Granddaughter (yr9) has just called for help with trig - and she's been taught it using the dreaded formula triangles.
What would you do in this situation?

My mum opened the door when she was crying, because she'd been peeling onions. They apologised for bothering her when she was so upset, and left immediately.
But seriously, we asked to be put on the 'Do not visit' list, hold at every Kingdom Hall - and it worked!

Privileged to have been in a workshop Don led in London, not that long before he passed away. Great Maths teacher!

As a life-long nonconformist, half way through my first year teaching at a Catholic girls' school I said something similar to a colleague in the staff room first thing in the morning on Ash Wednesday.

Curriculum Is a Localist Model of a Distributed Mind The problem with dividing knowledge into pieces

New on Substack: New post: Why does dividing curriculum into knowledge components feel so unstable? Because we're imposing localist structure on a distributed system. The brain doesn't store knowledge in pieces. profbeckyallen.substack.com/p/curriculum...

Catholic girls' school: Rievaulx, Lindisfarne, Thanet & Whitby - all ancient monastic orders, with Whitby Abbey being headed by St Hilda, in charge of nuns and monks!
More recent school: houses named after significant connections with the foundation.

I love the way you used ratios and similarity linked to the little triangle!

Why count up the whole rectangle, when there are two congruent triangles?
I also counted equilateral triangles, and got 6.5/12.5, so 13/25=0.52
