I like books that ramble a bit. Something that goes on side quests... even if there doesn't seem to be a specific point to it.

Sometimes I come across little phrases in books that... how do you describe... are surprising? Like words I didn't expect to find together? There has to be a word for this.
Anyway, today this phrase was:
"Fabrergé hand grenades" to describe something purely chaotic that was made with detail and love
