this probably says more about me than anything, but two of the sports media figures I grew up reading and listening to the most, Bill Simmons and Dan Le Batard, radicalized me against NBA teams, the Celtics and Heat, I otherwise wouldn't have cared about just by talking about them so much

he really thought that socialist line was a bar
the Rockies game notes folks have crafted another masterpiece
absolutely wild to think about, but for a couple of hours today, Messi, Ohtani and Jokic were all within a two miles of each other in Denver
got to spend a couple of hours with this dude today
having the "It's Dark and Hell is Hot" intro as part of your pregame routine is a surefire path to success. my 5th-grade basketball team did and we made it all the way to the Louisville elementary school championship game
having a future top-10 WNBA Draft pick on our team didn't hurt, either
the Rockies' pregame hype video has the intro from DMX's "It's Dark and Hell is Hot". the last Denver team to make that inspired choice were the Nuggets in 2022-23 and they won it all that season
World Series. book it
@alexkirshner.com loved the promotion/relegation question on today's SZD mailbag episode. it's a shameless plug, but I came up with a system last year for it. far from a perfect model and there would be a ton that would have to be ironed out, but it was a fun exercise
DU's coach, David Carle, is 36 years old and just won his third national title. the fact he isn't one of the biggest names in all of college sports probably speaks to college hockey's relatively niche popularity
can you imagine the hype around this guy if he were doing it in basketball or football?
for this week's newsletter, I wrote about Denver hockey and the latest title for college hockey's most accomplished program
average Indiana resident driving in the Louisville area
Dior Johnson and Chris Beard would be a match made in hell
why give the MVP to the first guy in NBA history to lead the league in assists and rebounds per game in a single season when you can hand it to the foul merchant who leads a band of insufferable dorks who play unwatchable basketball?
I know I don't pay as close of attention to the NBA as I used to -- or I've just been totally Nuggets-pilled from living in Denver -- because Jokic seems like the pretty clear MVP to me and yet he's got no chance of winning it
Sid Rosenberg @sidrosenberg19 X.com Figures! Mr. Met ran away from ME last season!!! And he's hugging the Mayor! Mr. Met is an Antisemite!!!!!!! katie honan @katie_honan • 6d Mr. and Mrs. Met (@MrMet) meet Mr. @nycmayor
Sid Rosenberg O @sidrosenberg19 X.com Just when you thought things couldn't get worse we found out today that Mr. Met is a raging antisemite!
Sid Rosenberg • @sidrosenberg19 X.com This was me at Citifield last season being IGNORED by Mr. Met! Yesterday Mr. AND Mrs. Met were hugging and kissing our Antisemite Mayor @NYCMayor! Easy to conclude that Mr. Met is an Antisemite!!!!!
Sid Rosenberg @sidrosenberg19 X.com l'll be 59 on Sunday:) For the first time ever I'm sporting a Yankee jersey as I make my way to the Bronx. The official transition from a life long Met fan to a Yankee fan is now underway. Like my friend @CGasparino once wrote "Go Woke, Go Broke!" The Mamdani Mets are too WOKE for me! See ya at the Stadium soon fans!
Absolutely dying at right-wing radio host Sid Rosenberg getting so angry that Mr. and Mrs. Met hugged @mayor.nyc.gov that he started calling them antisemites and became a Yankees fan.
the guys who ran that were bozos, at best. the one was something closer to evil. think both docs did a pretty good job placing the majority of the blame on them. there were a lot of aggressive acts, but things never get that bad if everything around the festival wasn't so substandard
one big thing I took away from the HBO doc on Woodstock 99 was that it basically showed other music festivals that they could price gouge the shit out of attendees, as long as they did it more competently and made sure everything else wasn't a total mess
everything I see from Coachella makes me feel impossibly old
been rattling a think piece around my head about how the transfer portal's awful for attracting casual fans to college basketball but is absolutely enthralling if you follow the sport closely
Heat Culture, they said
I've been loving the nicknames and fake album covers, but the whole Jack Harlow controversy's been based around an out-of-context quote. everything I've ever heard about him from anyone I know in Louisville is that he's a good, kind dude who the worst thing you can say about him is he's kinda corny
the funniest thing with the Jack Harlow blowback is he would have been better off being honest and telling the NYT that the reason he didn't switch to country or rock is because, unlike Machine Gun Kelly and Post Malone, he can actually rap
kinda wonder if he and his brother will end up at the same place
BlueSky's really picked up its sports game, but one area it's still got some work to do is with college basketball and the transfer portal. or, more accurately, the people who work in those spaces need to make the move over here
been spending way more time than I care to over on the other site
the worst part about Tottenham probably getting relegated is this exchange from In Bruges will no longer be relevant
I know there's a subset of people who don't like Pete, but he's the best communicator the party has, which is like 80% of the job of being a politician in 2026
the worst thing about Bruce Pearl getting more outspokenly political the past few years is that whenever you criticize him, some people think it's because he's a right-winger rather than the more obvious reason that he sucks
oh shit, I didn't even notice her! the wig threw me off
