After telling my doctor about some mysterious symptoms, she asked if I was stressed. "Well, I'm a mom, it's Sexual Assault Awareness Month, the world is on fire, and the economy is in shambles. Yeah, sure. I'm stressed." ☠️

7/ our young students, the next generation.
6/ avoiding the many facets of retraumatization of reporting. If there is a match, since abusers never seem to be sated by just one victim, the survivor will know, and can proceed how they want. This is not the solution, but it is a huge step in the right direction and an amazing new resource for
5/ "Every member in Congress knows not to let any young staffer around Swalwell or Matt Gaetz, it's not a secret there.” I do not trust the person who said it, but I guarantee that this statement is true, because it so often is. With Project Callisto, survivors can name names with low risk,
4/ and consuming victims with impunity, an open secret that everyone knows but no one will speak. We have seen over and over again survivors publicly getting scrutinized and eviscerated in the name of shielding the reputation of these abusers.
Recently, a former congressman said,
3/ 90% of campus assaults are committed by serial offenders. 2.5M college students are sexually assaulted each year.
We are not safe, and we are not safe to report. We are not protected, and we are not protected when we name names. We have seen over and over again abusers walking free
2/ Highlighting Project Callisto, which is an organization giving campus survivors the chance to securely document a sexual assault and/or match with others harmed by the same perpetrator. 6% of student survivors report to Title IX or the police.
Day 20: Pass the Torch
What can the next generation teach us about preventing sexual abuse and promoting respect? Share an idea, story, or example of how young leaders are shaping the future.

Highlighting Project Callisto,
1/
It’s burning the planet. Drinking the water. Stealing the work. Taking the jobs. Making the children kill themselves.
What part of “replacing humans” is so appealing??
Horrifying.
7/ and not as objects to sate our pride and greed? I'd like to see that in the real world, instead of only on my TV.
6/ Charles says, “Julie Andrews is a goddess.” Oliver replies, “I went too far.” What if we were all that quick to call out those with inappropriate comments? What if they were all that quick to repent? What if we all treated each other as equals, like God intended and our Constitution declares,
5/ true gentlemen.
There is one moment when Martin Short's Oliver, who is constantly name-dropping celebrities in grandiose stories, starts to share a slightly sexualized anecdote about Julie Andrews. Mabel and Charles (Steve Martin) both stop in the street and look at him with disgust.
4/ and becoming a victim of unwanted gaze and touch. But not Mabel of OMitB. Steve Martin and Martin Short's characters always treat her as a peer and, despite being wildly selfish and cowardly at times, will run to put themselves in harm's way to keep her safe. They're silly and bumbling, but are
3/ around murder, Selena Gomez's Mabel is never in sexual danger.
Hollywood and personal experience have always told us that there is no way a young woman can go about the world, befriending men old enough to be her grandpas (her olds), without being treated as a trash can for sexualized comments
2/ This is probably really silly, but after a moment of dismay realizing I can scarcely imagine such a world, I thought of the show Only Murders in the Building. I have recommended this show to so many. I adore Steve Martin, the banter brings me joy, and, even though the entire show is centered
Day 19: Strong Sundays
Share your vision for a stronger future. Help others to imagine a world free from sexual abuse, assault, and harassment.

“The accumulation of all powers, legislative, executive, and judiciary, in the same hands...may justly be pronounced the very definition of tyranny.” —James Madison
Hideous.

And there it is....
Update in Trump's $10 billion lawsuit against his own I.R.S., in which he seeks taxpayer-funded damages for the prior release of his tax records
Trump legal filing says he's in "discussions" with his own I.R.S. to "avoid protracted litigation"
3/ they can not be trusted to protect the bodies and constitutional rights of a people. That's a policy I'd like to see.
2/ A person convicted of sexual violence should be prohibited from holding any office in government or position of authority over others. If a person is willing to violate another's body and constitutional rights to satisfy their own pride and greed,
Day 17: What If?
What would systems look like if they were built to prevent sexual abuse, harassment, and assault? Share one policy, procedure, or step you’d like to see.
