Told my (ADHD/PDA) 7 year old to take a bin bag and collect the rubbish from her room, and then 45 minutes later she comes into my room with a bag full of garbage that she had collected along the trail *outside our house* instead

Every now and then I'm allowed to have like...tendrils of ideas begin to form again and it's so validating after months of feeling like I'm just getting dumber and slower.

So my partner took the (home ed) kids (who I am primary caregiver of so he can work) to a special home-ed event and I've gotten SO MUCH SHIT done and like...they're only 1/2 through??? I'VE FORGOTTEN WHAT IT'S LIKE WHEN KIDS GO TO IN-PERSON SCHOOL BUT I LIKE THIS BIT QUITE A LOT. #PandemicParenting

Hello (blank), I hope you are well. I just wanted to let you know that (redacted) had scissors out in our Maths class and looked like she was cutting her hair with them. I did ask her to stop and advised her that she needed to ask her grown ups before doing anything like that to which she agreed. However, I wanted to let you know as she wasn't visible on the camera for the majority of the rest of the lesson.

Warm regards

Can't stop laughing at this very 2025 email home from my p1 daughter's online teacher

“It may be confusing to hear that COVID is increasing heart attacks and strokes if you’ve only heard from public health guidance that SARS-COV-2 is a respiratory virus. In fact, COVID is highly vascular, attacking the blood vessels”

I always had low BP but am now seriously hypertensive post-COVID.

Some personal news: the Department of Homeland Security has given me, an immigration lawyer born in Newton, Massachusetts, seven days to leave the U.S. Does anyone know if you can get Italian citizenship through great-grandparents?

Given that shockingly few here in the Highlands are continuing to mask during an ongoing pandemic with an approximate 1 in 10 rate of Long COVID per infection, I'm going to go ahead and say that we're not ready for the next one (which is already here - #AvianFlu)

Me listening to my 7 year old tell her girl guide leader how much she loves her chickens literally just 2 hours after I got an email from the Highland Council that they're forcing us to get rid of our roosters, even though we live in a farming area and can touch cows from our 'driveway': 🫠 🫥 😔

My kids just had their first sleepover (someone else sleeping here) and as part of a post-event de-briefing, I showed them the Kevin Bridges sleepover video, and boy was realising they couldn't actually understand a Glaswegian accent a very strange experience 😅

I've been agonising over not being able to completely sever my Amazon reliance (disabled household in a rural area), but cancelled Prime + 13 subscribe & save subscriptions (half my list). Slowly weaning myself off by sourcing alternatives now and I already feel lighter.

So, generally it truly sucks to be mostly bed-bound.

~HOWEVER~

I think it's also a special privilege to be able to channel ur inner Emily Dickenson and pour your mental energy into just constantly writing weird 'letters' to ur friends that are occasionally maybe a little gay for some reason

One of the best parts of autism being so incredibly heritable is having a collection of memes about #neurodivergence that your kids enjoy as much as you do 😂

It's interesting to look at photos of yourself hiking (in winter/cold areas) and realise that whatever ur outer layers look like are just...ur winter colour/shape for as long as you have those clothes. You are just Multi-Coloured Blob.

All of this is more complicated by how well Scotland is doing in comparison. Just as sexual health resources are stripped away from Americans, I get an NHS text offering all Scots access to free, discreet STI testing. USians losing their homes, Scotland's giving us solar panels. #SurvivorsGuilt

Being an American abroad is weirder than it's ever been right now. On one hand I'm foregoing that aspect of my identity more and more in order to let myself just be Scottish, but then I watch a show like #Mo (on NFlix) and I desperately miss how close I felt to other cultures living in the States.

Working really is a lot of just:

I sent the e-mail! Task complete. ✅

They sent one back! Now I'm not done anymore. 😢

For the UK-based universities that REQUIRE even just a shitty pic of a coffee-stained, creased diploma *despite* having been provided official/electronic transcripts that demonstrate I graduated, do you also want me to fax that over to you as well, or does that need to be a telegram?

I think one of my more 'telling' #neurodivergent traits is that, now that I'm approaching my 40s, I feel like I have permission to be into the shit that I was into as a kid - because, at this point, there's clearly an established pattern which makes it 'OK' to enjoy things, somehow??

Watching "High Potential" (Kaitlin Olson), E1S4 ("Survival Mode") & I HAVE to have to know who on staff is a home-edding, self-sustainability 'prepper' because they nailed it 😂

Loved the Akosua Shirley quote about preparing for crises. Was not expecting to see this community well represented yet.

I feel like in some ways, people with #ADHD are better prepared for upcoming supply shortages, etc. because we often forget to order things like medicine and groceries anyway and therefore have lots more experience being miserable

When I was a baby on the internets I would basically just go OFF - constantly, to whoever, whenever. It was pathological. Now as an adult w/ decades of experience I can just disassociate while I'm writing a response, and when I return to my body I've somehow written something coherent & reasonable.
