Unless Carrick’s plan is to play Casemiro at CB against Chelsea, why not put Heaven on to get some minutes playing with Yoro? Chelsea game should surely be the focus now.

Wake Downtown/Innovation Quarter: Downtown area where Wake and Winston have redeveloped old Tobacco factories/power plant into classrooms, labs and business space.

Additionally, Wake is continually growing its presence in Charlotte (about an hour-75 min drive from campus)

Some Wake Forest/Winston-Salem things that are notable but won’t be on the first page of the website:
The Grounds: Campus Expansion/development project by athletics facilities.
Reynolda Village/House: Wake owned shopping village with dining, art gallery/museum, gardens and Graylyn hotel by campus

Greek life is prevalent at Wake, not a requirement. You can have a great experience without partaking.
Wake has a ton of New England, NY/NJ kids. I think about 75% or so of students are from outside NC. I think the biggest adjustment for someone from Boston would be that Winston is a smaller city.

Happy to answer a question or two. I am an alum and live in the area.

Ardmore or West End neighborhoods are your best bet in terms of proximity. Both have a couple apartment building options, Ardmore will have more rental homes available.

74 degrees, sunny with a gentle breeze, Manchester United and Wake Forest baseball games in a couple hours 😎 These early spring days are such a blessing.

Highly doubtful on Shaw but maybe León or Amass provide some squad depth without having to enter the market. I think we get a striker or winger but not both. As always, developing a squad is an ongoing process but I think the center of the park has to be the overwhelming priority.

Those people are biased, clueless or both. Bruno is pure class! Always has been!

If we do make Champions League or Europa, we are going to need multiple midfield signings. I would prioritize 2-3 signings there over pretty much any position. Another forward option is needed but Carrick seems flexible there and seems to be more attacking talent in the youth teams.

Senne proved he knows ball (🏈) with the EPL post earlier in the week. He backed it up here. Go Pats! We all we got, we all we need!

That Mbuemo shot felt like slow motion trundling into the net. Perfect placement.

If there’s one thing Manchester City stand for, it’s a passion for justice

Yeah i think Carrick was too good a player for that to be accurate. I think if this were Louis Saha, Rafael, etc. then sure. But of course by saying this, you will say I am proving your point. 😂 I’ll say cheers and hopefully we witness plenty more Michael Carrick victories.

A key player but not in the position that gets the headlines. A crucial piece to winning titles. What Vrabel is doing as a coach is impressive but he needs a lot more to equal what he was as a player.

I think your point would be more apt if you were talking about a player/coach like Southgate.

I think people are so fond of him now because of all the great memories of him as a player. He won title after title. Let’s be real, he has a long way to go as a manager to sniff the player he was. The six at the back thing nearly cost him today. I think it’s similar to Vrabel and the NE Patriots.

He wasn’t as flashy as Scholes or Keane before him but I think Carrick has always been beloved by the vast majority of United fans. Obviously United love their academy and Carrick came via Spurs so not as romantic of a path, but still loved. I guess I took more offense than you meant with the post.

Not sure what Mike is getting at here. Carrick always gave it all for United. He’d cover at CB if asked, and locked down the midfield for years. United won everything with him in the squad. Additionally, but unrelated, he had one of the best player chants of anyone in that generation of United.

We need more sports media members to make statements like Chris Long did at the end of @greenlightpod.bsky.social today. Speaking the truth and not caring at all if it costs him listeners or sponsors.

I think you are spot on. The Glazers never wanted a full exit from the club. They wanted more money and to not have their name dragged through the mud as frequently.

At least on the US broadcast, there was never an angle that looked offside. They also never showed the typical offsides graphic.

Man Utd 2-0 Man City FT

The Michael Carrick era is here. And what a result to get it started.

United fully deserve their win, as City lose further ground in the title race.

I think he’s wrong. The rebound could have cleared the center circle if Szo struck it better.

One nitpick, if a goal is being disallowed for offside and the commentary team continuously repeat “the VAR crew is saying this is mighty tight”, can we see a replay that slightly shows offside or the animation. The EPL referees have not earned the benefit of the doubt in my mind.

That Manchester United performance was the most complete performance we have seen in years. Besides a very shaky opening 20 minutes from Dalot, it was a very promising display. Organized defense, venomous counters and appropriate pressure from front to back.

Awesome news that Wake Forest will be hosting the German national team for the World Cup this summer. It will be good publicity for Wake soccer and cool to see the German team around town.
