Happy Cosmonautics day!

I’m so proud that we will be able give all kids, regardless of their socioeconomic status, access to the same quality of play. My humble thanks to so many for the support and faith in our work. Lots more news in the coming weeks… #wartoys #spielwarrenmesse

One more day to go, and lots more work to do before calling this done, but our approach is indeed proving just crazy enough to work. Relatively tiny investments in super affordable / accessible toys can (and will) make a massive impact.

With the world teetering on the edge, the work of @wartoys.org feels all the more timely. I’m so incredibly grateful to Spielwarenmesse for the invitation to share our toy industry program and for the opportunity to connect with so many likeminded peers.

The potential impact of our approach is massive, and the costs are tiny. We’ve spent less than a Cybertruck to develop socially-impactful toys that are incredibly cheap to manufacture and distribute in 41 languages! Thanks to our partners in China, they are now available to retailers worldwide.

Spielwarenmesse is expanding its program and highlighting the cultural, educational and economic facets of toys through the Value of Play Conference. War Toys founder @brianmccarty.com is honored to be giving the keynote address. He’ll be sharing not just this product, but also what it represents.

After years of development and more than a few setbacks, our first fostered products are finally hitting the market! These are the first production samples of our standalone boardgame, prepared for Spielwarenmesse - the toy industry’s largest trade event.

Needed a small sanity break from the news, so threw on some headphones and zen’ed out editing underwater test shots from the summer. Excited to play more and keep learning the gear and specialized techniques. It’s just different enough. #photography #toyphotography #underwater #scuba #gijoe #pool

War Toys: News & Events, War Toys to Document Children's Accounts of Violence in the US After five wars and absorbing hundreds of children's stories, we are struck by just how similar they really are. Except for the occasional flag, you'd never know what "side" a kid is on. And really...

War Toys will be documenting children's stories from within the US. Although kids here aren't enduring missile strikes and tank brigades, many experience levels of violence that are comparable to what their peers face in recognized war zones. It's time to give these children more of a voice.

We are honored to be working with Dickey's estate. Her family provided amazing access to Dickey’s cameras, clothing, and gear – all of which was reproduced in incredible detail by sculptor David Lea in standard 1:32 scale. Your purchase directly supports our programs: wartoys.org/programs #wartoys

Dickey’s remarkable life ended in Vietnam on November 4th, 1965. While on patrol with US Marines, she was killed by a booby-trap. Dickey was the first female correspondent killed during the Vietnam War, and the first American female photojournalist ever to be killed in action. #photojournalism

Dickey started her career as a combat photojournalist during the battle of Iwo Jima in WWII. Always wearing her trademark pearl earrings and harlequin glasses, she spent the next twenty years covering conflicts from Korea to the Hungarian Revolution. #photography #photojournalism #wartoys

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

My thanks to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and photographer Staci Vandagriff for covering the “War Toys: Ukraine” exhibition at the MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History. (I’m not on the right 😉)

I’m grateful to the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts for hosting a talk with Ben Grimes and I. Ben is the creator of a theater program for vets struggling with PTSD called The Breach. Coincidentally, we both were in Iraq in 2017. It was interesting for us each to get a different perspective of the war.

When I was little, the U.S. military came to our home at gunpoint and took me and my family away. We were imprisoned for years in barbed wire camps simply because we were Japanese American. I have spent my life telling that story, hoping it would never be repeated.
