Having now read both major Paul Jenkins/Jae Lee collaborations for Marvel Knights, I’ve reversed course and think Sentry has more impact as well as superior art with Jose Villarrubia really bringing the colors.

The incredible Eli never stops hustling, cranking out awesome sequential art as well as standalone pieces. Take a look over at @artbyatlas.bsky.social!

The final arc winding down Superwoman feels weak from a narrative perspective, but the book has a fun cast and nice art from Stephen Segovia, Art Thibert and Hi-Fi. I’m onboard with Lana Lang as a super powered protagonist, I think the concept has legs, this just wasn’t it.

Watching the Wonder Man TV show has sold me on Simon Williams as a nuanced character, and that carries to comics even if the 90s version is a far cry. Here he’s paired compellingly with The Vision, and Operation: Galactic Storm has made for some surprising discourse on morality.

Donald Sutton is a cartoonist, author and illustrator working primarily in children’s books. His storytelling is top notch and I think you’ll enjoy his work. Check it out at @donskreation.bsky.social.

My knee jerk is to label the Marvel Family and Black Adam stuff from Justice Society of America kind of corny, but once it sinks in, it occurs to me that’s how these characters work best and few get them better than Geoff John and Jerry Ordway.

You have to appreciate the scope Taboo and B. Earl take in crafting a Daredevil/Echo story true to the characters yet worthy of Phil Noto’s talent as an artist. A real feature of No. three is having the contrast of the supernatural elements. Noto draws and colors a wicked Ghost Rider.

Batman: Gotham Knights No. 22 fits what I understand to be the early remit of the book as far as telling a story during Joker’s Last Laugh but a ways away from the center of the event. Devin Grayson’s dynamic between The Dark Knight and Spoiler is fun and unique.

Young Paul Wesley on Smallville is unhinged (in the best way).
Phil Winslade, comes to play with an impressive outing on Sentry/Fantastic Four with the good fortune of Tom Palmer on inks. Paul Jenkins also crafts a story that looks at both the wild Silver Age potential of a Marvel Superman but impresses weight on the modern day sequence.

From what I understand, the Superwoman series quickly became a mess spinning out of Rebirth, but credit where credit is due on the latter issues making a go with Lana Lang as a lead. The Sami Basri art is clean and pleasant to look at with crisp colors from Hi-Fi.

Quasar is about the dorkiest comic I have ever encountered, but there’s no denying that Mark Gruenwald had a blast cooking up sci fi and the enthusiasm catches. It’s impossible to read issue No. 34 and not come away with the idea that Carol Danvers is better suited as a headliner.

Jerry Ordway adds so much to this big Black Adam story in Justice Society of America, from beautiful art, especially in the flashbacks, but also to really blowing out the Shazam mythology.

I would describe Justin D. Martin’s style as distinct and unique. He’s got great skill and impressive storytelling chops. Check out his work at @justinjdm99.bsky.social.

I would…
-ditch the International title
-make the Continental the top secondary belt (keep it in the C2)
-TNT becomes your “TV” title (defended more than the others on Dynamite/Collision)
-convert the National to a more “specialty” belt (Cruiserweight, hardcore, whatever)
With Danny Ketch: Ghost Rider, Howard Mackie nicely captures the moment in time that was Midnight Sons and 90s Marvel horror, but the title character is the least compelling aspect. I never got what made Danny stand out. To me there is no good argument against Johnny Blaze.

Jeph Loeb.
Superman No. 175 is all about celebrating 100 issues since the Man of Steel’s landmark death with a massive rematch against Doomsday as only Ed McGuinness could depict it.

Attitude Era WWF had four singles championships outside the World title, but each had a distinct purpose. IC was the secondary, European was a rung lower, Hardcore was for brawlers, LHW/Cruiserweight was for smaller wrestlers.
I don’t know if the TNT belt means more than the Continental, etc.
AEW hot take: I don’t think they have *too many* titles, there’s just no hierarchy.
An award winner and utter star, Paris Alleyne has made their mark across Marvel, DC and more. Treat yourself to their amazing art at @parisalleyne.bsky.social!

Sentry/X-Men is the least of these specials so far as the present day sequence feels like retread and the flashback never quite achieves a thoughtful commentary on the Silver Age. I’m also let down by the art from Mark Texeira, who I typically love, but it’s washed out here.
