Fun fact: Ganondorf uses an "A-pose" instead. This is still fairly common in 3D modeling and it's helpful when a character has armor on their shoulders

The point of confusion is probably the word 設定 (settei, "settings") which is broad and can describe anything from backstory to personality. Saying he wants to reflect the settings of the movie in the games is a pretty vague answer and he says point blank he doesn't want to be constrained by a story

To be frank everything Nintendo Everything publishes is clickbait. They just sloppily machine translated a Nintendo Dream interview and have taken it at face value just to get outrage "Peach and Rosalina are canon sisters now?!!!" clicks when I seriously doubt that was the intent of that statement

I HAVE YEAH I'm probably biased because I played the PS1 port of the arcade version first but I still appreciate what the PC Engine version goes for on a technical level. I remember hearing Black Valkyrie was something they really wanted to have in the arcade version so I'm glad she got her chance
