I gotta say, launching Artemis II on April Fools’ Day is going to do nothing for the ‘we-never-went-to-the-moon’ conspiracies.

Episode 1 starts with the birth of radio astronomy, when one man heard a hiss in his headphones... 📡🎧

... the moment we realised we could listen to the universe, not just look at it 🔭

Author Steven Vickers wrote on Threads, "To confirm, this '100% AI generated' passage is the opening of Chapter 5 from Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. I think authors are going to get screwed in these AI witch hunts."

I agree 100% with Steven Vickers that authors will be falsely accused of using AI in the coming years. In particular, authors like myself whose works were stolen to train AI systems are at risk. When we write in our own unique styles, AI trained on us will quite likely flag us as using AI.

The women who have made it to the top are exceptional - they’ve had to be. That can be so intimidating. Sometimes, I just want to hear they love reality TV and pigs.

Scientist friends… tell me your ‘frivolous’ hobby. 🧬🔭🧪

I’m Emma, I’m an astronomer and I love popcorn and looking at waterfalls.

Excellent (tongue-in-cheek) suggestion from Uta Frith for solving childcare issue in academia: put the nurseries on campus and in the psychology department… then we can do experiments on them! 😂😂

Writing a grant proposal & it is hard to stay motivated when the proposed funding cuts are so deep. 🔭

I believe in astronomy though. I believe in using the Universe as a laboratory to test our most extreme theories of physics & I know that astronomy helps build up our economies... and our spirits.
