again i want to clarify they aren't doing a bad thing & more indie share in the industry would be great, i've just seen this pattern before & nothing fundamentally changes lol

also every independent artist who blows up due to sheer quality and becomes impossible for the industry to ignore, no matter what field and no matter what decade, is treated like some kinda everyman success story, but people can be inhumanly talented while also getting very lucky.

(and possibly, again from the grunge scene, youtube animators being treated as a speculative asset or "the next vivziepop/TADC", industry giants flood the zone with partnerships & promises of infinite success, and then immediately pull the contracts when their first release doesn't do TADC numbers)

more likely what'll happen is what happened to grunge. we're gonna get some absolutely amazing art for a few years until the faceless & soulless learn how to mimic the aesthetics, sand the edges off, & create more marketable retreads that christian parents are ok with their kids watching.

also i know TADC isn't necessarily made for kids, but cmon the audience is full of kids/teens in the exact age range industry freaks salivate over capturing the attention of. that's another foot in the door for TADC on top of "have 2.5 billion views" and "get 2.5 billion views VERY quickly"

i have no stake in this argument & i'm not saying they're doing anything bad or wrong, but the idea of this possibly being a paradigm shifting moment that will benefit tons of youtube animators is a bit much. this will benefit youtube animators with billions of views, which is just them rn lmao
