As we watched the Flyers game last night:
Husband: "We (aka Flyers fans) can't even buy Martone a drink yet."
Me: "Yeah, that kid is never going to have to buy a beer in this town."
Husband: "No, we literally can't buy him a drink yet - he's 19!"

So glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for reading :).
As a Philadelphian, I agree wholeheartedly with every word of this article (gift link). share.inquirer.com/sYJXm1
Now we just need @farfarraway.bsky.social to do an article on our tendency to give directions based on where things USED to be. "Take a left at the old Girard Bank...."
New Philly-related stamp drop. Can’t believe Gritty didn’t make the cut. He may not have been at the Revolution but he is the Revolution.
ICYMI over the weekend, here's my latest deep dive into Philly culture.

I had a lot of fun researching this piece, and I learned a few things too!
Thanks so much to everyone who offered a suggestion when I put a call out on here a while ago. This was truly a team effort.

So glad you enjoyed it!
I’ve been out all night and just came home and the Flyers won their first playoff game!! Obvs have to keep wearing my Flyers earrings I wore today until further notice.
Suck it Iceburgh. Go Flyers. Go Gritty. Go Philly.
Spoilers! But also, I had no idea he guest starred and I can’t wait!
Haha! Thank you! I remember reading that article.
While there's no way I could ever afford the Haven, I did do my study abroad on Semester at Sea - so I have lived on a cruise ship for 4 months! Still one of the best times of my life.
This year I began watching The Love Boat for the first time so when I got an invite to attend a tour of the Norwegian Jewel before it set sail for Bermuda on its inaugural voyage out of Philly, I was all aboard.
Here are my takeaways w/some Love Boat references:

I’m about to take a media tour of the Norwegian Jewel, the first cruise ship to sail out of Philly in 15 years. And of course, the Mummers are here.
So I ask the guy today why he did it and he tells me he does it to help out the customers who get confused by the SMILEY FACE screen.
"I wasn't confused and I got through every other screen just fine," I said.
I joked with him while giving him hell but that is some shady stuff, yo. 2/2
At one of the Delco post offices I go to, every time the screen comes up with the 'How was your experience?' and three faces - angry, meh, and happy - the postal worker reaches over the counter before I can touch it and hits the smiley face. It's now happened to me with 2 different workers there 1/2

In the real world life doesn’t always fit together neatly like a model kit and there’s no instruction book to tell you when you’ve reached the end. Sometimes you just have to call it, which is what AAA Hobbies president Alan Bass and his family have decided to do.

I'm so excited
I'm very excited that Gritty is in the playoffs. He really deserves this and is going to be totally uncool about it and I'm here for every minute.
For my fellow Philly Aries - Rob Mac & Glenn Howerton are upgrading your free bday shot at Ray's Happy Birthday Bar to Four Walls Whiskey if you were born today (Glenn's bday) or tomorrow (Mac's bday).
Whoever brings in the most bday twins wins bragging rights.

This is very true. Gonna save my PPA file. May be worth big $ someday.
Cleaned out a random drawer this weekend and wondering why I have this and why it exists.
A PPA Marketing meeting, the late aughts: “You know what will sow good will for our much-maligned agency? Nail files!”
This first is a real photo from when we had to fill up our rental car in California last week.
The second is also a real photo of the Easter Bunny driving a Porsche in Carmel-by-the-Sea.
A time out in Old City. #philly
Philly - What's a recent neighborhood name made up by developers that bothers the hell out of you?
I highly recommend this train journey - and recommend snagging a seat in the first-come-first-serve observation car if you can, which has floor to ceiling windows.
I will happily take all of your recommendations for other train trips in the states and abroad please and thank you. 3/3
Amtrak’s Coast Starlight goes from LA to Seattle, but we got off about five hours into the ride in San Luis Obispo. The journey was absolutely stunning. We hugged the coast so close sometimes I wondered how they shored up the line so we didn’t fall into the ocean. 2/3
As I get older, I just want to ride the rails and see the world. My husband and I have taken some great train rides in Europe, but never in the U.S. - until last week. 1/3
Not too bad, actually!
