@meteormagic.dev hey I have a very stupid question
so like in the UI there's a velocity counter, tells you how fast your are, but what exactly is the number?
My current theory is that it's "units per gametick" because the numbers it hovers around are sorta comparable to speed values in SM64.
fuck, shit, damn it, curse my inability to play those
I solved genres
1st row: read 'em ups
2nd row: speed 'em ups
3rd row: fuck 'em ups (up close)
4th row: fuck 'em ups (from afar)
5th row: find 'em ups
6th row: think 'em ups
there is no good game that doesn't fit one of these categories
curious about the itty bitty sliver for earthbound, have you played any of them?

people get PISSED at me when i say things like "constant vigilance and fixating on things that piss you off or tire you out is actually a serious issue of your political motivations and mental health" it reminds me of my 5yo getting mad when i take away the sharpie he's using to draw on the walls
Maybe in the western scene at least. I can’t claim to know much about the doujin scene beyond being a touhou fan. At the very least it's not fucking Jonathan Blown.
yeah it was really fucking funny when I got a phone call while taking a test at the DMV and they told me to turn off my phone and I FUCKING COULDN'T!!!!!!!!
THEY COULD NEVER MAKE ME HATE YOU, INCEST, NEVER
1. biomes is a nintendo thing, you see it just as much in mario and zelda
2. given the storied history of jp and us devs interacting (or more often, choosing not to) I doubt fusion was impacted in any major way by prime
posted caineghis because literally during the first scene with him I told the person I was playing with "this guy feels like a nolan-core character", I'll mention the other character I was gonna post is dante (yes actually)
Now I don't plan on being a hypocrite so I'll admit I played it while two of those were true (stopped shortly before AI Vader by coincidence).
Fuck TERFs, yeah, I'm just wacked out by people acting like this is some kind of betrayal from a previously innocent party.
- Nazi truck is in the game.
- AI generating the voice of a dead black man to say a bunch of racist shit.
- Generally being one of the most manipulative GAASes out there and preying on children on top of that.
I don't often post "takes" but it's wack to me that I've seen multiple posts acting like a harry potter collab is the worst thing fortnite's ever done and they're totally gonna uninstall and never play again when:
I don't have that impression at all though. I almost exclusively hear praise for it aside from some people calling it easy.
also polled someone else about this and got
"do they like pokemon
if they do tell them to just stream a run of a mainline game
it will be a good test for your commentary and also a very quick and easy way to get chatters that speak and can be interacted with"

Of course, there's still cases outside of either of those.
Sometimes boring is actually the appeal, there's an OoT speedrunner I follow whose most common viewer compliment is "I sleep to your videos", and while that sounds unflattering it nonetheless clearly gets him viewership.
[tangent] My ideal streaming career would pretty much be getting people to like the sound of my voice before trapping them in an untranslated japanese visual novel about dating your sister.
And as much as I would love the world where streaming Bunny Must Die: Chelsea And The Seven Devils rakes in viewers, the truth is that "interesting game" more often than not just means "thing I know".
Simplest explanation for how they did that is to say they offset it with a strong personality or an interesting game respectively.
"strong personality" is a loaded phrase that just means "people know you and want you to yap". You're capable of this but it may take time to establish a viewerbase.
Don't be ridiculous, you're not boring.
Now I'm no expert buuuuut if I had to guess your biggest issues getting viewers would actually be: marketing, consistency, and choice of content.
I know some pretty popular streamers who have gotten away with "boring" games or "boring" personalities.

And I get it and I've been a lil guilty of it before, but at least I try to suppress it. Even if the player asks me for backseating (which has happened) I'll just try to give as neutral a response as I can because I don't wanna make them do something they wouldn't.
