Format for prepping runs with a quote, description, starting the action, paint the scene/add detail, questions. On the second page we see suggestions for Threats, Opportunities, Interesting Failures.

I came up with a new format for prepping Runs. Personally, I try to avoid using the same complications and harm all over again, but in the heat of the game it's hard (for me) to be original. This format tries to be creative up front, as material to riff from during the session.

The 4 Riders of the apocalpyse in the foreground, the 5th Rider in the back. Text is "With the Fifth Rider the great scheme stopped. No doom, no pain, no hope, no change. Only the cold stare, only the great freeze. Time is dead. Death is dead. What do you do?"

Next a double sided spread about an alternate campaign ending: The 5th Rider. The vanilla game is about change and destroying this world to make room for the next one. But what if change itself is killed?
Is played as a Flashpoint Run (see above): The 5th Rider has killed change... what do you do?

2 page spread about Flashpoint Runs, an alternate mode to play runs and the Engagement. It's about playing backwards using flashbacks and hopefully winning the showdown against all odds.

Next a new Run mode I called Flashpoint Runs. You start with a showdown going bad, do flashback scenes and then come back to the showdown to show the audience that there's still a chance that you can make it out ... alive.
Some examples are included in the companion.

Writing the A Fistful of Darkness Companion was a good excuse to create some art and new stuff, back in the weird west world of aFoD. Here are some examples to show you what's in the book.
