i deleted fb and related stuff about 8 or 9 years ago, i have no idea why folks still hold out for it, it boggled my mind

(rhetorical question because ive heard the reasons)

Seeing the Bill Watterson originals full of pencil lines of stuff that didn’t work, scuffs the eraser didn’t pick up, white out galore and more was something I needed to see to remind myself that nothing is perfect the first go and tweaks need to be made and you’re allowed to try again.

i had *zero* drive to do any art my one trip, but watching cartoons? heavenly. just constantly thinking in general astonishment "wow man, wow. can you believe this shit? who wouldve thought. amazing." but like, i had completely forgot i was also an animator lmao.

I think it's good to keep getting mad about evil and unjust things, if only to remind yourself and everyone else that these things are in fact evil and unjust. I don't think it's naive. Nor is it wise and sophisticated to adopt a "You fool, nothing matters and nothing good can ever happen" posture

any argument against gen ai needs to still go right at their throats because they will just continue to improve how good it looks without giving a damn at any other attrocities. we cant let them distance it from the rotten stench it's fundamentally built upon.

the text/chat ones are a bit different because that bad output can be HORRIFICALLY damaging, of course

but i'm just tired of anyone still doing "haha look how funny the ai made this person look isnt that bad", it's so soft

i dont want ai devs thinking "oh well we just need to make it look and act better then, then it'll be accepted"

no! i want it destroyed forever! i want everyone who supported it and destroyed lives and our planet marked by it forever!

i've felt like this for a while already but still: i'm honestly tired of so many arguments against gen ai imagery using "haha it looks bad"

gen ai is still bad because of it's worst parts: pollution, energy overuse, costs, property theft, and robbing people of livelihoods.

rewatched Memories last night, the problem with the arts nowadays is that nobody is throwing loads of money at animation directors to get them to make a gorgeously animated short film about "what if a guy got so stinky that everyone died"

my shoulder and back pain got bad enough to also resist my stretching and workouts. then i started slapping on icyhot patches and tiger balm. instant relief from a LOT of those micro knots in my muscles that just werent going away. also epsom salt bath soaks more regularly.

JUDGEMENT DAY is about a masked astronaut sent to a planet of sentient robots to determine if they can join a Galactic Federation. The astronaut rejects their bid after observing they've built a hierarchy solely around which color they're painted. We only see the astronauts face in the final panel.

it is so, so hard anymore but every time i think to myself "yeah well, imagine they win completely and erase all the good in the world you contributed to: all the art, the craft knowledge, niche history and stories, the hope..." and i get fired up all over again to support it and share with others
