Our article in @apsrjournal.bsky.social is about the travails of majoritarian mayoral elections for Women's Representation. Lets get PR & RCV in the USA! @rcvmd.org @rcv123.org @rcvmontana.bsky.social @maxberger.bsky.social @fairvote.bsky.social @fairvotewa.bsky.social @fairvotemn.bsky.social
I approve. Let's keep the real creeps out of toilets, cars.
I would add that this impacts internal balances of power within Labour over which arguments can win. There will be a mix of candidates winning and losing that will tell a story about what arguments will cut through. Certain groups will have more and others less of a voice post-May 7.
I think it worked for him well in the past when he was truly a blank slate, but he might be up for a rude awakening now as people are increasingly considering him to be incompetent and two faced. --

Furthermore, by allowing the appearance of dissent in this way he promotes an inclusive image while still getting exactly what he wants at heart. Certainly as most people that aren't paying as close attention will only see Labour in a "positive" light from this

It is particularly insidious of a strategy as it lets the average observer project their own beliefs onto the blank paper (Starmer) while not having to tie himself down to a policy leading up to an election (May 7). It works more in the opposition than in govt journals.sagepub.com/doi/abs/10.1...
Agreed. It definitely wasn't a complement. Starmer's previously done something similar on # of policies where actual his choices always fall on a consistent side -- e.g. Brexit/EU, green new deal. He's doing it again with the common market now I fear. blogs.canterbury.ac.uk/expertcommen...
I think that higher ups may even like that it sows confusion about where the party actually lies, much like the very cis pride event that was held last summer.
This tanker will take some turning around but there’s a serious wrench at the tiller here.
tmw the bleach hits the blood stream 😂 🤪🫠
“One report (found) that only 8 percent of users actually double checked an AI’s answer. Another experiment found that users still listened to AI when it gave them the wrong answer nearly 80 percent of the time — a grim trend the researchers dubbed “cognitive surrender.”
"We also have cisgender men as unit helpers and activity advisers, and there’s never been any objection to any of these men being involved in Girlguiding events.”
Transphobia is a men's rights movement in drag.
This isn’t journalism. This is creative writing by fascist sycophants.
AAAAAAAAAAHHHHH
there's a lot here on being seen, understanding concerns, & so on
considerably less on questions like 'will care be available?' or how those decisions are being made

I hope this is driving home to folks that anti-DEI/anti-woke are functioning mostly as a way to make racism more palatable by framing it as a kind of defensive reaction to an imagined unfairness.
It ended the practice 30 years ago after its own internal report said was scientifically flawed, discriminatory, and a cause of emotional trauma

This'll have virtually no effect on trans women, who already weren't competing in the Olympics (in the more than 20 years in which trans women could participate in the Olympics, a grand total of... 1 actually made a team. She came in dead last in her event).

When you finally wonder if maybe you’ve contributed to a moral panic that has led to the most extreme assault on minority rights since Jim Crow
This is incredibly irresponsible journalism. You cannot write this headline without acknowledging all the times Elon Musk has promised to pay for things, then didn't.
Let's take a stroll down memory lane. 🧵
Trans folks desperately trying to warn everyone that the so-called gender critical movement was coming for reproductive rights for years, I'd been detailing links between them and US anti-abortion groups only for it to be ignored and it burned me out, but look, it's exactly what we all warned about:
Perhaps. But those party strategists are the same ones who previously dismissed the idea the Greens were a threat, then mocked Polanski and advocated “only Labour can beat Reform” messages which have repeatedly failed. We might wonder if they are the most credible analysts of this problem.
Skrmetti has no binding authority over NY state law which has explicit protections for trans patients. The DOJ coming in and overriding a state AG's enforcement like this is an incredible overreach and shows just how far this admin will go to target trans youth.
"And then we got Keir Starmer, and he’s pretty much in the same place as the Conservatives were – if not arguably worse, under Wes Streeting," says Polanski

doge really did select hires on the basis of "too young to understand that they will likely have personal legal liability" didn't they
I know many of you already know this because it’s obvious but you can absolutely take a survey of an opinion desk’s output over time and pretty accurately surmise the views—or at least the intentions—of the people who are in charge of deciding what gets published. I thought we were all adults here
