Hero Points (or really, any “reroll after knowing result” Fortune effects) are kind of like a lower risk, lower reward version of roll twice pick higher.
It’s hard to model mathematically, but you’re reducing the chances of consuming a resource when you don’t need one (you’ll rarely reroll a 1/2

Here’s a deep dive into Pathfinder 2E’s Fortune (the roll twice and pick higher kind!). It starts with basic D&D style Advantage and builds up from there, and it is VERY surprising how strong it really is.

I didn’t even end up commenting on that thread because I have the user blocked lol.
I briefly looked at the thread and it was just… dissent of paragraph of “Daredevil bad, and anyone who say it good it actually bad” with little substance to it.
It’s frustrating how so much of the community 1/2

My long overdue video talking about the Resistances errata in #pathfinder2e.
released a 5E homebrew Daredevil too tells me that this is a pretty popular fantasy that people want to see!
But obviously the randos on the internet within our own echo chambers know what’s popular better than the folks with actual surveys and marketing and whatnot right? 🙄 2/2
Oh they absolutely would. The echo chamber effect is very real. I’ve seen multiple cases in both Reddit and Discord where the same 20 people all agree with one another and say no one wanted the Daredevil or Slayer (and push out anyone who says otherwise lol).
And I agree, the fact that they 1/2
And yet people will unironically look us in the eye and say no wanted these classes lol.
In today’s video, I discuss my takeaways from the Daredevil and Slayer playtests in #pathfinder2e. www.youtube.com/watch?v=AaHz...
I gotta say, I love these classes. When built right, they really sing, and I think popular discourse has a VERY wrong impression of them.
those can be true.
2. If this was true, why would Astral Runes be viewed as near-mandatory at all? They’d be considered winmore.
3. … Was explicitly contradicted by Paizo themselves in the errata text.
The reactions are blowing my mind. 4/4
are predicated on the assumption that Paizo had perfectly balanced the HP and AC of such creatures around this interaction which:
1. Doesn’t make much sense, because there’s no way for Paizo to balance perfectly for both parties that abuse rainbow runes and parties that don’t? Only one of 3/4
a PL+1 “Low threat” boss turn into a nightmare challenge due to poor lining up vs its resistances.
The fact that a larger variety of ability spreads and Rune selections are viable against ghosts and other such creatures is a GOOD THING actually.
It’s doubly funny because these complaints 2/X
Yeah I just don’t understand how this is a bad thing…
Incorporeal freaking sucked to fight against man. Dex martials, one-handed martials, etc often end up dealing single digits of damage. Str martials fare better but still, largely, consider Astral a near mandatory investment. I’ve watched 1/X
Here’s my thoughts on the Daredevil playtest in #pathfinder2e!
www.youtube.com/watch?v=1zFz...
I think the class is very cool, and I’d like to see the idea refined! More complex martials is always a good thing.
Getting a chance to playtest #Pathfinder2E’s Slayer for the first time and this class is GREAT.
I’ll probably put my full thoughts in a video in the near future, but the way the pieces fit together is very satisfying.
Continuing from my part 1 earlier this week: here's PART TWO of my Slayer review!

Overall thoughts: I think this class looks fantastic. It needs some tweaking, but that's to be expected for something this WEIRD. Very, very excited for it!

happier with this than if we’d gotten a Shifter (the thing I’m seeing so many Discords latch onto) or a “fill in the blanks” caster that so many people seem to want. 2/2
Yeah, the number of people going on the internet and confidently claiming that Paizo fucked up and there’s no demand for:
- a Bloodborne/Witcher/MonsterHunter/Castlevania expy, and
- a dynamic and athletic martial who throws people into shit,
Is crazy. These classes are FANTASTIC, and I’m way 1/2
Make sure to check out this collab over on RebelThenKing’s channel! It’s a series of videos talking about the community’s views of the 27 classes in the game, this one covers the middle 9.
The collab has many, many of your favourite YouTube creators!

Also notably I’ve seen some players who just freeze and refuse to do anything when faced with the former, for fear of not getting to use the “optimal” skill.
Just… please don’t do that. Engage with the game the way it’s trying to be engaged with. It’s more fun for everyone, FRICTION IS GOOD.
How to run a skill encounter: "Rubble blocks the path! What do you do? Jump over it? Squeeze in an opening? Or do you have a different idea?"
How not to run a skill encounter: "Do an acrobatics or slightly harder athletics check."
when combat started + the Swashbuckler DASHING in to take the heat off the merchants meant that the drakes all ganged up on the obvious threat. Which then meant there was a good ol’ cluster for the Animist to get in on.
Even outdoor fights should EVOLVE in an organic way that enables good play. 2/2
Yup. Outdoor fights have features too.
The fight that prompted this video was actuality an outdoor fight (roughly 60x80 feet worth of space, completely open, not even tree cover).
But the fight was prompted by drakes attacking a merchant caravan. Which meant that their natural positioning 1/X
“Only” a 10-foot burst? That’s 20 feet end to end, it’s a massive area if you know how to aim it.
I love how the forums are so split between players who think every map is a broom closet and players who think every map is a chaotic battlefield.

Trying something new with a much shorter video than usual! Just rambling about a spell I had no idea existed.

One of my favourite things about pf2e is that when you play out a turn tactically and then narrate/describe it as a continuous “scene” in hindsight, it’s always some unhinged, cinematic stuff.

It’s really sad. If you’re gonna be a hater, be a GOOD hater at least?
If you need ChatGPT to word your hate mail, you’re not a good enough hater, stop it.
I would be embarrassed if I asked an AI to criticize 5E/5.5E/WOTC for me? SMH my head.
disparity than there really is. In most people’s play experiences, both martials and casters feel roughly equal throughout the level ranges. 5/5
(it’s not), and that melee martials are unassailably good at damage (ranged martials and casters have their own advantages in damage), and that it’s bad GMing to ever ever challenge your melees (but it’s the caster’s fault when anything bad happens).
