If I spent years lecturing people why it’s inappropriate to call Trump a fascist, I’d probably just quietly bow out of the debate now, and transition to writing about sports or something. What a giant waste of everyone’s time that was.

I’m not willing to give liberals any credit for “being right about Trump” since it’s their fault Trump was elected twice. But I will say that a group of podcasters and columnists on the left did get the Trump movement completely wrong, and haven’t been ridiculed for it enough imo.

This is true, but I like to think It’s because they were thoroughly discredited when the guy they held up as the alpha alternative to woke vaccine betas had his Achilles disintegrate one minute into the season last year.

Anti-DEI stuff obv won’t materially benefit workers. But it’s the only thing Trump has done so far that can be remotely spun as pro-working class. That’s why folks like Grim, Stoller, etc., who for years have promoted the lie about the GOP’s embrace of pro-worker populism, have glommed onto it.

The closest the US has come to pinning Covid on a Chinese lab leak is a “low assessment” report with no hard evidence. And the agencies that did endorse lab leak disagree on which lab it leaked out of. GOP wants to use the “theory” to escalate tensions with Beijing. Don’t fall for it.
